I never thought that a 70s model would cost a thousand euros or more. For the price alone, I see no reason to buy one.

All I can say is that I agree 100% - the quick grab for cash by tech industry right now to "recoup losses" is astounding to me. It's clear that Sales Engineers and CEOs of the tech industry and retailers are no longer the best and brightest out there, rather they are all scrambling to "grow the company" as fast as possible because that is all that wallstreet requires to validate them as successful companies, even though this "Growth" comes at the cost of the quality of product and consumer acceptance. Jay's saying the same thing I've been: Companies saw those pandemic scalper prices people were paying, and went absolutely insane with greed. In my ideal world, every last one of these cards would be sitting on shelves gathering dust and costing these companies a fortune until they offered steep price cuts out of desperation.

I remember the gtx 970 being $300. At this rate, the 4050 is going to be the same cost as a whole computer.

Interesting coming back to this video 5 months later. 3090 Ti is still ~$1,600 on Amazon while 4070 Ti can be easily had for $799 (including several model options). Considering the massive improvement to efficiency, that makes the 4070 Ti seem like a great option. It is still expensive, which everything is, but in the actual landscape of GPU pricing it provides solid value. Just wish it had 16GB of VRAM rather than 12.

I got an 3080 ftc for 650 on offer from an Asian dude who spent 1200 from a scalper during the height of the pandemic. I feel so blessed and I will definitely be keeping for awhile and wait for Intel to come out with their own GPUS at a great entry point
  • @RashaKahn
I remember buying a 1080 for $500, this is nuts...
  • @ragnew9669
The 4060 will perform as 3070, and priced as 3070. Great progress 👏
  • @EchelonDnB
bought one to replace a 3080ti - 4070ti is superb - smaller, doesn't overheat to like 80C :P or sound like a F22 Raptor taking off. It runs every game on max effortlessly
  • Me chilling here with a 1080ti still going strong after nearly 7 years. Havent found an upgrade worth it yet.
  • We as gamers need to come together and vote with our wallets. Don't buy the cards, don't buy anything especially from the scalpers. Let the greedy corporations feel a hole in their pocket so that next time it might give them pause to consider treating their customers with respect and remind them who got them where they are now.
  • @supergrendel
In this era of $1400+ gpus I just say a few nice words every day to my 1080ti for hanging strong for almost 6 years now.
  • @Dell-ol6hb
The 4070 and 4070ti not having 16 gb of vram is unacceptable imo, at that price point nowadays 16gb should be standard
  • @demonsorrow536
Sitting on my 980ti trying to consider upgrading. Its been 8yrs.

last minute of this video expressed EXACTLY how the gamers feel to the stuff we love. It makes us happy to play with these stuff, but It indeed is sad to see how the industry has become.
  • @BAMBAMRSA
Dude thank you for caring so much about us small guys, like you could easily get lost in always having such prime equipment but you've remained so in tune with the struggles an average PC gamer faces when buying hardware. Such a legend brother much love from South Africa!

A combination of having my first child, starting a new job and these prices (the MSRP ones, not to mention how they are affected by inflation and scalping) made me completely lose interest in modern PC tech/gaming in 2021. Now I just have a PS5 and some "retro" PC parts, I'm so done and happier for it.
  • @NelGameplague
i m so glad i still sticking to console gaming and hold back my new rig build till today.
