  • Exactly, never understood this ridiculous notion flying around that you need domain expertise. Like you said SME’s are always there and most of it is common sense anyways.

Hey Mike, I'm currently at a crossroads in my software engineering career. I'm a backend Java developer that works on systems to handle big data collection. I've got 4 years of experience as a professional dev, and nearly 3 of those being in backend Java development. I have 4 years of SQL experience with 3 of them being big data adjacent, but we don't really touch this data in our roles. I have some Python experience, but no more than a year professionally. At my last job I wrote a couple of programs in Python and eventually C to sanitize and ingest very large (600MB+) excel files into a SQL DB that I then made searchable through a front end. So I have some limited experience with data sanitization and ingestion, but not a ton. I'm not sure if I want to try to break into machine learning, or if I can, and I'm looking for some advice. I'm not in it for the money, programming is something I've loved since I was 15, and machine learning is something I've talked about for a few years, but I'm now realizing that I need to make a choice on whether or not I should pursue machine learning, or pursue another avenue in programming.

Another great video from a real man . Also Mike I managed to apply to Google Data Analytics since Data analysts mostly deal with collecting ,cleaning , organizing and wrangling datasets I thought this course might have been a good jump and been making progress. After finishing this course what do you recommend for the future plans to be after learning using SQL , R , Python and Tableau? If you managed to tell me good habits or send me a link of one of your videos related to my quesiton I would be happy.

Why don't put link to logikbot in the description?

I wanna finish my bachelors(I know a degree isnt necessary.) I work in insurance. Should I even bother with a data degree or work on my hard skills in SQL etc and just wrap it up with a business degree or something?
  • Hey, I'm currently a fresh graduate in electrical engineering hoping to land a data role anytime soon. I also plan on taking some courses on your platform. I noticed you don't have videos on IBM's data courses on Coursera. I am currently taking up the Data Engineering Professional Certificate, and I think it's really bad. Basically, their videos are being taught by AIs, so they sound so horrible. Maybe you could make videos reviewing them, whether they're good or bad for beginners. Many thanks!

Hello, Mike! I have the question that was asked multiple times and I know you are tired to answer on this but I have a bit more complicated situation. I am 21 and I want to become Data Engineer and already had Data Enigneer internship. You were telling that if you want to feel yourself maximum comfortable in data field then just get bachelor's degree. Hence, this year I am getting my bachelor's and planning to go for the job but university administration made me an offer - if I go for the masters then they will give me scholarship, 1 year to study as exchange student abroad (I will get for that scholarship as well) and the most important the opportunity to work in parallel at university development team that collaborates with different companies to make commercial projects (I will get small salary for that). This project includes machine learning, data engineering and software engineering. On the one hand, If we watch in the future for some decades then data field will become competitive and masters degree just for a bit will make you a bit better in this case. Moreover, having a practice during masters will allow me to get to the data industry easier by having experience. On the other hand, masters degree maximum gives salary rise for 100 euros and 2 years spent in youth for 100 euros can cost you a 100k euro at age of 30. What would you recommend me in my situation?
  • Real talk, what certifications/exams do you need for a entry level data analyst role

Hello sir, after one of your videos I pulled out a data science class. I know you recommend Data analysis for the future. What do you think of "cybersecurity analysis"?
  • It's relevant to those hiring.... I would agree that it doesn't matter but most companies want you to have direct experience in a specific sector
