Cancer Survivor Story: How I Got Diagnosed with Lung Cancer | Ashley R. (1 of 3) | The Patient Story

Publicado 2021-08-31
In this segment, Ashley describes how an unrelated medical situation led to multiple scans and tests to figure out why there were abnormalities showing up in her lung (nodules). Her doctor sent tissue samples to Mayo Clinic in Arizona when he learned she had never smoked, never worked in a plant, and didn’t work in gardening/soil. Ashley also dives into how she processed the news of her lung cancer diagnosis and how she broke the news to loved ones.

In this Series: Our 3-part series with Ashley covers her from how she got diagnosed, to the targeted therapy that had just been approved for her cancer subtype and genetic mutation (EGFR+ T790M) that allowed her to take a pill (osimertinib or Tagrisso) instead of traditional chemotherapy, through how she lives with her incurable but treatable disease.

I unfortunately have gotten very bad news and that I am going to die. That was the worst worst day of my life. I don’t have cancer but I have a bad heart in heart failure. Young lady you make me feel better.

My wife had backcourt in 2014.. lobe removal and chemo as it was in her lymph nodes.. very hard but recovered and remission.. scans every 6 moths.. 2019 a scan showed a nodule increased in size.. they did a wedgectomy to remove the nodule in the lobe on the same side.. was a success and now back to 6 month scans.. went recently and all was ok so now a scan in one year.. long hard road but it can be done

  • Ashley, you are a wonderful human and so brave. Your video has made me less scared of my own near diagnosis of possibly having something similar. Thank you for being so informative and helpful to us. Thank you so much beautiful lady.

I watch Ashley's interview for encouragement. Her story and testimony helps me cheer up and gives me inspiration, when I feel down and tired in my own journey. Thank you so much Stephanie for the interview. Thank you so much Ashley for doing the interview.

They usually put patients in recovery for at least an hour after any surgery that requires sleep anesthesia. Praying for your healing. 🙏🙏

First, as a member of the club, healing thoughts to you both. How does this channel only have 1700 subs? Should have 17 million. My flavor is B-cell lymphoma, recently in remission. Stephanie, I don’t have a ton of pics from my journey, but would love to talk to you about getting my story on your channel. How do I do that? I must confess that I am less than tech-savvy. Peace, Luis

Thank you for this channel. I was diagnosed Feb 8, 2022 with Adenocarcinoma . No real symptoms other than I lost my voice and had shoulder pain. I go today to get me treatment plan and to get specific diagnosis. I picked Ashley’s story because of her name and initials Ashley R is my daughter in laws name and initial. So much of what you said encourages me. I feel like I’m on a tight rope today and girl, I am afraid of heights. Please let me know if social groups to join. Like you said unless you are living it, no one really understands. Thank you again. Love and prayers.

Ashley and all the others I've watched on this channel (including Stephanie) are real troopers--and positive people! They are very lucky to have support systems--family, especially. I don't know what I'd do if I were diagnosed with cancer. I'd have to hire a ride and home care. Please everyone be grateful for your support systems ❤
