One of the best documentaries I have seen. I teach high school English and history in the United States. I will be sharing this documentary with my students as we study England. Thank you!
  • I have had a great respect for your Queen. She served the entire UK and commonwealth. No one good have done it better than she did. I am Dutch and admired her for her strength and kindness. R.I.P 👑❤️

I’m 64. Elizabeth is the only monarch I’ve ever known about in my life time. With every war, every natural disaster and every economic upheaval, Queen Elizabeth was always there to remind me everything is going to be alright. This too shall pass. Just knowing she was still around somehow brought comfort. She was the stalwart of monarchy itself. Well done good and faithful servant.

I think the queen was a wonderful dutiful monarch and deserved the respect she garnered. I will miss her, even though I am American. God save the Queen.
  • I absolutely ❤ this channel! I’m a complete history buff & being as the “old world” is so much older than my country & continent I adore learning of the Empires, Kingdoms, Nations, ect that came to fruition throughout history & or over time! Thank You for your brilliant dictations..
  • I am American. I have always been fascinated with Queen Elizabeth II. Her commitment to her people AND her family. She kept her promise to her people and her family as well. My great-grandmother raised me from 9yrs old and was taking care of her parents as well, my point is this...I had the honor of their amazing stories re: the royals. ❤

Interesting fact about George VI's stuttering... Both my eldest brother and myself were born left-handed and, at school, were forced to write right-handed. We both stuttered badly gor a number of years as a result. I knew about George VI's stuttering but not about him being left-handed.
  • ...how good is this series! ...just brilliant & a pleasure to listen to. Marvellous! 😊👌🏽

It's this part of British history, The Windsor's, that's one of my fave part of history. And there's so many interconnecting lines outside of this it's amazing.🍸

The resemblance between George and Nicholas II was astounding. They could have been twins. I can only imagine his sense of guilt for failing to rescue him and his family. So sad.

George VI was the King the British Empire needed. Edward could not even responsibly manage to put the needs of his country ahead of his own pathetic desires. That coupled with his probable scheming throughout WW2 made him totally unsuitable for any responsible position in the British government. George was a strong and steady influence.

The British Monarchy has always fascinated me. My mom taught tenth grade world history. Even I earned a B.A. in History (because she always made it enjoyable to learn)... she (84 now) while working on her masters when I was about ten years old, went to a Renaissance Fair and she made her own dress and was Queen Elizabeth I. The Tudors are one of our favorites to discuss. I think everyone finds that dynasty fascinating. Of course, the Victorian Era is fascinating as well. Great video. I really enjoyed it.

King George V was definitely an unsung hero of the time. His flexibility and moderation, even though conservative, made him the perfect monarch for the times. Queen Mary, along with her husband, though conservative and old guard, established the first connections with their subjects and showed a certain understanding of the common people.. They were a blessing...
  • That was just a wonderful documentary / collection of documentaries. Thank you so much for posting it

King George V was an excellent underrated King who was beloved and respected by his nation. He led the country to victory through ww1, he embodied the british spirit, he became the voice of his people, and thats why he was nicknamed 'the people's king'. He was the first modern constitutional king who set the example of leadership for his son King George VI and his dear Lilibeth
  • @hwbeute1
George V was not the eldest son of Edward VII, as is said in the beginning of part II, but the second son. His elder brother Albert died of the Spanish Flu, making him the heir. Both facts are stated accurately in the first part of this documentary! This aside: excellent post!!! Thank you very much!
  • Your compilations are always a treat! Just like with the Plantagenets and tudors! Next you should do the Stewarts and Hanovers when you cover them all!😊❤
  • @ReneLegault

Looking forward to this. Only seen the thumbnail so far...I suppose many know the Queen as an old lady but the thumbnail alone, shows what a beautiful woman Queen Elizabeth II was.
