“you could fit a hundred people in here, easily” - the speed of the calculation suggests there are more writers in Simon’s dungeon than previously indicated.

Kevin knew exactly how much yammering Simon was going to do lol
  • I'm a biker with tattoos and a horsey person, this episode felt like one big personal attack
  • The secret hack to get police to take you seriously is say the missing person has a serious health condition (eg diabetes) and needs medication asap
  • @tasogarehime
This is another perfect example of why I hate the "They just ran away." excuse when police pull it. It should not matter even if the kid did run away. When a child is missing the priority should be to find the child, and make sure they are safe. No excuses.
  • @jazdragen
amused that Simon is convinced that no adults try to make themselves feel better by putting down the person they harbor jealousy of
  • As a native Melbournian who has lived here all my life, I remember this case and how Victoria Police were absolutely reamed over this. I seem to remember quite a few people suspicious took “early retirement”. But back then, Box Hill Police were notorious for being lazy…

The police in this case are completely incompetent. The parents solved that case, they did all the real work. They shouldn't have had to go through that. RIP Rachel. She seemed like she was going to have an amazing life
  • 33:00 as an always anxious girlie, I appreciate men like Simon and my husband who can internalize panic and try to keep others calm. It’s not always healthy but in high stress situations, someone with a clear head is definitely needed.

editor throwing some silent shade with that hair clip pfft
  • I had a great-aunt who got into an argument with her son one morning. He stormed out of the house, drove off, and got into a fatal accident. She never remembered what the argument was about, or what their last words to each other were, but she was haunted for the rest of her life by the fact that it was something horrible said in a moment of rage that they never had a chance to get past. My mother and I hardly had the best relationship, but because of what happened to her aunt and cousin, she would always say “I love you” before leaving for work, no matter how bad of a morning we may have been having.

hello! resident of melbourne here. Melbourne is a massive city, population of about 5-6mil people. Instead of Melbourne being the city and lots of separate towns bordering it, we have heaps of suburbs surrounding the city and the further out or away you go from the city itself, the bigger the suburbs get and become more towns than suburbs. In this case, Mont Albert, Box Hill and Richmond are all really close to one another, Mont Albert to Richmond is a 20 minute drive with heaps of other suburbs in between. The jurisdiction isn't crossing state lines as its in the same state. Same city, just different suburbs, so same laws across the board. Whereas, if she was reported as a missing person in Victoria and was found in New South Wales for example there may be different laws! I hope this clears up any confusion :)
  • As an Aussie, Simon pronouncing Melbourne properly brought me so much joy ❤

A mean girl in elementary once pretended to be my friend for a month just to find out what I thought about her best friend. Like… faked a fight and avoided that friend and everything. Sucked for her that I was a very politik 10 year old, so when she asked my opinion of the other girl, I played neutral. AND THEN THAT FRIEND CRAWLED OUT FROM UNDER THE TABLE. They laughed at me and then went right back to bullying me. Oddly enough, didn’t really have a huge emotional impact. Being that girl’s friend wasn’t great lol. … TL;DR people are freaking insane, so the concept of frenemies is not surprising

"Why are you so tall and less handsome?" "I traded my looks and hair for height! Got this british accent for free, too. WORTH IT!"
  • @vancakes4500
"Is there a hack to make the police listen to you?" First thing that came to mind was "she has [insert illness here, like diabetes] and doesn't have the medication with her that she needs to live." As you said, deal with the consequences later but that would probably make her a bigger priority.
