I will NEVER understand how someone can cover up a serious crime for someone just because they are "family." It is such a repulsive idea to me...
  • @lalabrouhaha
The tagline for Casual Criminalist should be "police, do your f*ckin job". I need that on a hoodie.

It's disturbing and infuriating that the police allowed him commit SA crime after SA crime, including drugging and rping women and did absolutely NOTHING to stop him. Then a girl goes missing and they immediatly insult her by saying she has "loose morals" and refuse to investigate. Makes me so fcking angry

So what I got from this is that if they dug up that patio when they first searched it this would have been over years ago and the family would have a body to bury.

Cadaver dog trainer/handler here; our dogs are pretty kickass. All of mine are rescues that I adopted from the euthanasia lists of local animal shelters because they were too "intense/aggressive" to be adopted out as pets, so both of my current ones are actually pit bulls, and they do an amazing job in wilderness and rubble search because they're so tenacious and physically strong. It's super rewarding work. My primary day job is rehabilitating dogs deemed legally dangerous and aggressive in animal shelters and animal control facilities, and the SAR thing just kind of happened when I became friends with the previous manager of the NYPD kennels who served during 9/11 and he was no longer physically able to handle his working dogs. And don't worry, Simon; they only cue when they've been instructed to search.

At around 11:20 I know what you mean Simon. You're not worried because she's a woman and women aren't capable, you're worried because statistically women are more likely to be the victims of violent crimes no matter how capable they are. That's absolutely valid.

Little Fun Fact, Paul Flores got assaulted in Prison by his Cellmate Jason Budrow (who also killed another piece of 💩 called Roger Reece Kibbe in Prison). As Simon would say: He got hurt in Prison? Oh noooo, what a shame 😊

I have an even crazier fact for you, Simon! Cadaver dogs are sometimes used at archeological digs where there are suspected human remains! They can find bodies that are thousands of years old, and are especially useful in preserving Native American burial grounds when a patch of land is being considered for development!

This is my hometown. We have known about Kristen for years and we are So grateful to Sheriff Parkinson who did a wonderful job (pity he wasn't there from the start) new sheriff. The real hero has been Chris Lambert, amazing and dedicated!!! Rip Kristen 🕊🙏
  • More important to protect their disgusting "baby boy" than to make him man up and have some integrity for once in his pathetic life. The parents are responsible for this as well, from spoiling him, to always covering for him, including the murder. Paul may have been born a monster but they nurtured him into an even bigger monster.

Gotta love the unforced "I'm guilty" statements. Chester: "Yes, i was with her that night, but I didn't find her attractive." Police: "OK, but we didn't ask." Chester's Dad: "Hey, don't go snooping in my trash can or touch my trash can." Tenants: "We didn't have any desire to do anything with or to your trash can."

I'm the meerkat of my neighborhood. Im awake at weird hours, I sit by the window, I inhale coffee, and I watch the kids walk to school and the cars drive by. I know when i see a different car, i can remember outfits I've seen, i know which neighbors are friends and who hate each other.

I listened to the original podcast covering the case just before the Floreses were arrested. And then listened to the subsequent court coverage. Chris Lambert’s selfless dedication and compassion for Kristin and her family led to justice in the end. There are no words to describe the depth of admiration and respect I have for him. If more people were like Chris, our world would be a much better place.

By the sound of it, Paul Flores was walking around with a red flag tied around his neck like a superhero cape. I'm glad justice was eventually found for Kristin Smart, but the fact it was the incompetence of all the police originally in charge of her disappearance shows further accountability is needed for true justice to be served.
  • "No body, no parole" That's law in New South Wales here in Oz. I wish it applied everywhere.
  • @Linelmao
As someone who lived in SLO for a bit, even attending Cal Poly, I'm so glad that Kristin is getting the justice she deserves. I also think its good someone is shining a light on how both local law enforcement AND university police failed everyone.
  • As soon as Paul said he had to go and take care of the gravel at his moms house he literally told police where she was.
  • @cicig1827
Apparently Paul has already been attacked by his prison roommate so he may not make it to parole, let alone the full sentence.

I love my son dearly. One of our favorite bonding activities has been to watch forensic shows together. On multiple occasions I have turned to him during one of these shows and told him flat out that if he ever commits a serious crime, I wouldn't lift a finger to cover it up for him. And he agreed that that was only right. Given his gentle nature and his strong moral compass, I don't think this will ever come up!
