Huge shoutouts to Brawl for being the reason Kid Icarus Uprising exists. Sakurai really looked at this random angel dude from some 20ish year old nes game and was like "woah this guy's cool im gonna put him in my fighting game" and subsequently went "woah this guy's cool im gonna make one of the best games on the 3ds with him"

3:55 SnapCube Fandubs completely brutalized this scene for me. All I can hear when this comes on now is echoes of "IT'S A-ME, WARIO!! GONNA WIN!!!!!"

Man, Brawl was a huge part of my childhood, and that included the Subspace Emissary. Its such a shame that Smash never tried for something similar to it again (And no, World of Light doesn't count)

i love plots that throw crackfic-style combinations of characters together i love cutscenes that exist just to make cutesy bing bing wahoo characters look cool i love pointlessly edgy OCs, backstories and casual stadium nuking i love how peach's double-jump is far better in the story mode than outside of it god i fucking love subspace emissary

And Porky Minch was never seen again... He doesn't even have a spirit in Ultimate! Maybe he's still stuck in the Absolutely Safe Capsule.

Unironically my childhood. I didn't have any friends or access to online but I 100% this game and every single trophy and would spend hours just reading all the lore blurbs in the trophy menu.

Dan bringing ganondorf to the final boss and saying Sonic was the weak link physically killed me

I love that the only reason Kirby comes back is because he sees the Dedede amulet, goes full toddler mode and immediately swallows it whole

Subspace is the reason why Brawl is still my favorite Smash. That game had so much single player content, which was awesome for a kid with no friends or online like me.

19:33 If I actually remember correctly, Marth is one of the few matchups in the Brawl that Meta Knight doesn't actually completely stomp.

It was crazy of Sakurai to give us a full story campaign in a Smash Bros game, only to go "Someone uploaded it to YouTube, so I'm NEVER gonna do this again!".
