In this step-by-step Python for beginner's tutorial, learn how you can get started programming in Python. In this video, I assume that you are completely new to programming. We'll walk through how to get Python, how to run your first code, and how to get an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) to help you code faster. You'll also learn about variables and how to set them. We'll look at functions, if statements, while and for loops, and we'll import libraries. At the end, we'll also look at how you can troubleshoot your code, for instance, when you run into syntax, semantic, or runtime errors. By the end, you'll know how to run code and you'll also understand the basic concepts of programming. My name is Kevin Stratvert and I'll be your guide to Python. I previously worked at Microsoft for 14 years.

At last, I have found someone explaining complex things so fluently. Kevin, please continue the Python series. It will help a lot of people like me. Thank you for this helpful video. ❤

I've taken a python course about 8 years ago.... I have never made it through a full lecture and honestly cheated my way through the class to get the credit. This video was the first time I sat through the entire thing and understood what I am trying to learn lol. Why we still need to pay thousands of dollars to learn something to get a piece of paper that says "I did it" is beyond me.
  • @SecTechie
It's about time that somebody thoroughly explains this without skipping steps. Whenever some people tutor in these things, they sometimes miss steps because they figure that it's too unimportant because they already know the information. Thanks a trillion! Now I understand this way more than I ever did before. You sir are brilliant! Blessings to you and your family.
  • Thanks Kevin! ❤After struggling for 1 year with complicated tutorials, I finally learned Javascript! I did with the help of videos like yours and a few good books. I got hired this week and I'm here to say thank you!
Edit: For those asking, I learned with the books 'Javascript In Less than 50 Pages' for the basics of programming and 'Smarter Way to Learn Python" for Python.
Learning anything else becomes much easier after that.
  • @annad1495
Outstanding. He gets into the mind of the beginner and does not skip anything. I have not seen ANY other teacher on FutureLearn or Udemy who come even close to giving a clear and complete path to start programming as Kevin does.

To be honest it’s not important how well skilled is your instructor, but it’s important how he transfer that knowledge! I really am amazed the way you were explaining it! Thank you so much! And I was lost where to start it
  • Kevin!!! Thank you! I know this was posted 2 years ago, but you have made my life so much easier. I'm taking this endorsement class for computer science and I was struggling. Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you!
  • @jonathanb6773
Thank you for putting this together. I'm seeing it for the first time in 2024, after my Computer Science professor suggested it for the class. Well done and very easy to understand. Thank you for putting in the effort to make this video!
  • I'm in my late 60's with no computer programming background whatsoever yet I found your tutorial well thought out and at a very good pace. Suddenly I'm full of enthusiasm to learn more. Thank you Kevin.
  • A good teacher is a person who enjoys what he teaches. Enthusiasm is infectious.
  • Kevin, please continue the Python series. It will help a lot of people like me. Thank you for this helpful video.
  • @250bythepark
You're a great teacher with a very calm, structured and relaxed style!
  • @houm7571
practically started last week learning. I know nothing about coding and decided to start with python and after watching 4 videos from different channels, I have to hand it to you, by far the best. It seems some people providing beginners tutorials don't understand that people like us need a more meticulously planned presentation so as to not get lost.
  • @fsarraj
Kevin, you are such a talented teacher. so far I was resisting to learn a modern languages after my histroy in Assembly, Fortran and Pascal. I do not professionally need python but I will learn it now. Please keep adding more contents on this topic especially giving examples on how to use python for modern applications or automating repetitive tasks on PowerPoint, etc. What a great work you deliver. Thank you
  • @BijouBakson
I took a 2 days course with Google on Python over the weekend, and I am already an advanced programmer. They mistified it so much it felt like an impossible task. The tutor was running so fast and the method was simply catastrophic, compared to this course. I knew I needed some other tutorials. I stumbled upon this as a suggestion, and I am glad I watched. Suddenly I realise it's so simple now. Thank you for your work.
  • @FinnandMaxsMom
I tried watching a Python tutorial on LinkedIn. It was totally awful. This tutorial was FANTASTIC. It gave me the basics so that I could follow along and participate. I wasn't sitting there struggling to download stuff that I didn't need, and Kevin stuck to one operating system. Thank you so much for this great training. I'm more confident now than ever before.
  • @jaazshaan6971
Hi Kevin , I usually don’t write comments for any videos I watch , but I can’t ignore your videos. I learned ms word , excel , PowerPoint, power BI from your videos only . Your videos are very easy to grasp and understand and you provide worksheets also. Keep doing this please. I can’t express my gratitude to you. Thank you so much.
  • @bobbyman410
It shocks me on how his videos don’t have at least hundreds of thousands of views. Amazing content
  • @PrestisTunes
Today was my very first day ever writing code and you made it extremely easy to understand and follow along. Thanks for the inspiration, Kevin!
