One of the organisers here! We included this rule and it kinda just stuck. Being in a room full of consoles pumping out heat on top of 80 odd people, it gets stinky reallllllll quick. Shout outs to our doorman who does the passive smell test too ♥️

I went to Evo once, and had to leave after a few hours because of the smell. It smelled like musty locker room ass, dirty feet, old cheese, and f'd up cheetos. My wife left after an hour. She couldn't stand the smell. She never joined me at another tournament.

When I played Magic The Gathering, my local store had a sign on the door saying "If you have BO you will be refused service". I never smelt anything there and we had 60+ players playing just Modern every Friday
