i recently found out that this film was james corden's idea and suddenly everything just made sense
  • The way they were like “let’s have her choose her business instead of the prince like a real hashtag girl boss” and her business is just making incredibly ugly dresses.

“You’re not gonna top Anne Hathaway” - Trin said what needed to be said. And scene.

    LMFAOOOO camila: “i’d rather die” idina: 🎶 i don’t care 🎶
  • Camila’s singing in this is a good example of why pop and theatre have different singing technique. Like yeah there’s some overlap, but not everything works
  • THANK YOU! Someone finally mentioned how ugly the dresses are. Like people weren't giving homegirl a chance because she was a bad designer, not because she was a woman lmao
  • I feel like Ella Enchanted did a much better job of including pop songs into their soundtrack
  • @rogue7723
This would've been fine if the evil stepmother in this was the one with her own dress-making business and taking the credit for Cinderella's designs.

i just don’t think camila cabello’s singing style is for musicals it just doesn’t work
  • @itslilyquinn
Watching the movie, it kind of looks like something Rachel Berry would write.

That "What a Man" sequence does look and sound really good, I love how all of the women have super creative and unique costume and hair and makeup design! So clearly the costume designers can make good dresses...no explanation for Cinderella's designs.

the ballroom scene with all the different ladies in the amazing dresses singing whatta man exudes more girlboss energy in one second than the entirety of cinderella's scenes
  • @moonkniqhts
i HATE how unlikable they made cinderella. my favourite part about her character in majority of adaptations is even though she’s abused, she remains such a kind and compassionate character, i get absolutely none of that from this version.

The fact that the Pitch Perfect director did this movie says a lot about the song choices
  • As a black girl who loves fairytales and period pieces I do enjoy the diversity in the movie, but I think the director might have been trying a little too hard be cool like Hamilton or Bridgerton. Don't get me wrong I love both Hamilton and Bridgerton, but I feel like this movie was trying to do what they did and it just ended up all over the place with the costumes, the hairstyles, the modern day slang, and the accents (why are the royals British and everyone else is American?). Alas maybe this movie was supposed to be more for kids than anyone else 🤷🏾‍♀️

The way that you just stopped the movie dead in its tracks when they started singing Let’s Get Loud. Iconic, truly.
  • With the characterization they gave her, they should have just thought she was the local crazy person
  • @lexypedia6308
this literally feels like a glee episode where they put on a play of ella enchanted and it just did not hit the mark
