My early Zelda experience was around 1988... my Dad and I played this game so much to the point we got a sketch book and made our own overworld and underworld maps... drawn by hand with our own legends of what ment what. We mapped out the underworld levels after we got the maps and compasses in the levels. It took us weeks to beat the game and find all the secrets. But after we beat Gannon and got the red ring we were mighty surprised to play the second Quest and opened a can of whoop ass on it! My Dad and I played the shit out of Zelda, Mario, and Duck Hunt. One of my many fond memories growing up in the 80s and 90s.

7:07 of course right after you leave fairy lake an enemy drops a fairy right away but when you're down to 1 heart you can kill 50 enemies on the way to the lake and none of them will drop health :D

This was a pretty good video, my first one, found it in my recommended because I've been on a Zelda binge
  • This video is a lifesaver! I've never gotten far in this game because three hearts plus high damage equals frustration galore. These secrets have allowed me to finally make progress that I never could before! Thank you so much for this video! :)

Replayed this for the first time since I was a kid, so like twenty five years ago. The game is still a lot of fun, even knowing all the secrets. It took me over 6 hours to beat and 15 lives to do it; no cheats utilizing glitches and beat each level in order, and no second controller resets.
  • YouTube algorithm sent me to this video. I am watching the second video because I learned secrets I never knew in this video. I thought my brother and I had burned every bush and blown up every wall in the game.

This is the first video of yours that I have ever seen (to my recollection). I found it in my recommendations right after looking up a video on how to get the white sword as I was trying to come up with a plan for how to get started on a new run of "The Legend of Zelda" (1986), and your video was exactly what I was looking for! :)
  • suggested videos :) I like your casual and friendly style! plus great tips!! subbed :)

I recently purchased this game again and started playing for the first time in over 25 years! While I'm happy to rediscover the game and all it's nuances as a "beginner" I knew there were many little secrets I've forgotten and decided to look it up. Yours is the 1st video of your channel Ive watched and found it very helpful. Thanks a lot, it's all coming back to me!
  • Hey just leaving a friendly tip! You're able to get the upgraded sword shield, get the ring before the first dungeon. There are 3 hidden places where you are given 100 rupees! 2 spots you are needing to burn a Bush but over where you get your heart container by the desert you can keep going further east and there's a secrecy walkway that isn't visible where you can walk up and you'll talk to an old man and he'll give you 100 Rupees!

This was the first NES game I played and it's my all-time favorite NES game of all time. Back then, there was no Internet or YouTube. You had to rely on Nintendo Power magazine or other video game mags, the kids today have it made😀😀😀

If you leave one enemy alive on each screen the don't re-spawn making it easier to navigate the world.

You don't have to die to get to the continue/save screen. You can go to the item select screen, then hold up and press a on the second controller.
