I really love Metroid as Metroid Prime is one of my favorite series of all time! Will Metroid Dread be your first Metroid Game? Let me know :_jdkEye:

I love how disrespectful she is to Kraid. She enters the room ready to kill but then lowers her guard when she recognizes him like "Oh. This bitch." And when Kraid tries to fire a spike at her, she dodges it without any style or flair because he doesn't deserve that kind of effort.

Samus during cutscenes: hyper efficient bounty hunter Samus when I’m playing: confused idiot who dies to tiny insects - EDIT after 2 YEARS later: I finally got-good guys, we did it. After multiple playthroughs, I know this game like the back of my ass.

"Can we have our badass female bounty hunter back?" Dread: "Okay."
  • @rosenrot234
I love how she sees Kraid and just reacts with a very "Oh. I thought this would be someone important" posture.

And then she turns herself into a metroid. Most badass shit I've ever seen.

I love how she always keeps her cannon trained on things when they're a threat, even when a death isn't entirely confirmed she keeps it trained on them for a few moments. Then there's Kraid, who gets zero respect
  • I can't believe anyone would say that Samus wasn't emotive enough- she's basically radiating confusion (her first use of her metroid powers), irritation (shutting off the fans), warmth (quiet robe), bemusement (that kraid dodge needs to be made into a gif), and a metric fuck ton of rage (80% of the game). Samus spoke with her body language and animations; arguably as much as the doom guy did back in 2016.
  • One thing I like to think about during her absolutely cathartic fit of rage, is that it’s not just that Raven Beak manipulated her, not just that she’s tired of dealing with villains who want the universe at their feet. Raven Beak had the audacity to call her “My Daughter.” I like to think that was where she snapped.

The entire game gave "I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with ME!" vibes

I love how Samus's voice lines after 19 years of no new Metroid games consist of a line of dialogue in Chozo, which they went ahead and made a language for, and primal screaming in rage. Perfect.
  • I love how when Quiet Robe approaches Samus, she turns to him in threat assessment mode, with her defenses up because she's just so used to having her life threatened everytime she encounters another unknown being; then when he gives her a friendly greeting, you can see the tension literally melt away from her body, and she has a moment of relief. And that's communicated without her needing to make a sound. Also love how Raven Beak looks at his remaining wing, then locks eyes with Samus and then rips it off while maintaining that eye contact. The body language as a whole in this game is legitimately amazing.

Doom Slayer: “Hey, need a-” Samus: unbridled screams of fury Doom Slayer: “… okie dokie then, you got it.”
  • @indigolotus1100
You see, Raven Beak, you're not just dealing with the average Metroid anymore... You're dealing with a- dramatic pause Super Metroid
  • I like that Samus is quick to aim but seems to avoid shooting anything until she's very sure it's hostile.

I love how in the cutscenes, she moves and points her arm cannon at new threats just as crazy fast as a top-tier player can do in game. Not only the reaction speed, but the physical movement so instantaneous that there isn't even a motion blur. Just one instant she's looking around casually, and the next she has that thing pointed directly at your face. Really drives home the idea that those feats you can accomplish in-game aren't story/gameplay segregated. She's ACTUALLY that much of a physically impossible badass.
  • @thewalrus45
Ridley took a break for this game so his bro Kraid could get some shine for the first time in decades.
  • Funny how primal screams of rage is the best voice acting samus has ever gotten.

Just a reminder: at 8:55 when she activated Metroid Suit mode, she wasn't just draining Raven Beak of power, she was draining the ENTIRE DAMN SHIP as well! That's the equivalent of absorbing a couple of NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS WORTH OF ENERGY!!!
