Sent back from a dystopian 2029--where the cold machines have conquered the entire world--to 1984 Los Angeles, the indestructible cyborg-assassin known as the "Terminator" commences his deadly mission to kill humankind's most important woman: the unsuspecting Sarah Connor. However, from the same war-torn post-apocalyptic future comes a battle-scarred defender--Kyle Reese, a brave soldier of the human Resistance Army--bent on stopping the cybernetic killer from eliminating the world's last hope. But, the Terminator has no feelings, he doesn't sleep, and above all, he won't stop until he carries out his grim task. Does our future lie in our past?

The Terminator may be a relentless killing machine but he's still polite enough to knock on Sarah's door first. You can't buy that respect.

One reason this movie works so well is its relentless pace. There isn't an ounce of fat on it. The shoestring budget probably helped - most of the time, they were shooting the outdoors scenes without permits, and they had to get out of there before any cops showed up.

The 80's were the best. Robocop, terminator...!

Ahh...the 80's!! Big beautiful hair and lipstick, you looked in the phone book to find a number, diners were busy, nightclubs were busy, no computers, no smartphones, no Facebook. Great movies. Great times indeed and very much missed.

That phone booth scene is much more hilarious in the german dubbed version. The guy says "Hey, check the phone book for A like Asshole. I´m sure you´ll find your number 😂

Keeping the cartridges on the counter & handing over a shit load of guns to someone looking like that😂👍

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton will forever be known as their roles in the terminator movies.

The Gunshop owner's reaction to the plasma rifle question is not so much “I’ve never even heard of that” but a “Listen - I can’t sell a fancy gun like that here. This is just a simple mom-and-pop gun store, pal.” Really makes you think.

Important safety Lesson running a Gun shop: never leave any ammo boxes on top the counter where a strange muscular brute can arm his weapon and shoot before he gets a chance to Pay.
  • Classic bit of storytelling, hard to find a movie like this today.

Dick Miller who played the shop owner sadly passed away a few years ago. RIP.

40 years later, and 99% of films made today aren't this good.

The toy truck destroyed... foreshadowing for a scene in the sequel, T2 Judgement Day?
