Aside from meditating, here's what helped me the most: Always be aware of what you're currently doing. You're gonna be surprised just how much control your subconcious has over your daily routines. You'll start to notice patterns such as randomly going to your phone to check a notification, only to end up scrolling on YT/TikTok/Whichever social media site you're using. Focus on what you're doing, and once you notice the urge creeping up, try to resist it and concentrate on your ACTUAL goals at hand. You don't have to use willpower, just let the urge slide and convince yourself to do smth. productive instead. Cravings for small bursts of dopamine will usually subside the moment you enter the Flow State

This is what YouTube used to be. An actual, serious video with a real person speaking with personal ideals and wisdom on a script that they really cared for. I really loved this video. It will probably change my life someday.
  • the irony is that this video genuinely gave me a panic attack because i so badly felt like i needed to be doing something else. thats probably why i really needed it. i still feel anxious but i think thats honestly a natural reaction when your brain has adjusted for so long to the doomscrolling mentality. word. thanks for the vid.

to help with those worried that they can't sit with no thoughts, its normal. meditation is not the lack of thoughts, quite the opposite. It is thinking until you have nothing else to think about. Baby steps, you're doing fine.

Hi, if you are in a complete brain rot state, I would recommend you to start walking outside with music without allowing yourself to look at your phone. Bonus point if you put an album on that you wanted to listen to front to back for a long time. This isn't boring but slow paced and a good point to start. Start with 15-20 Minutes and most likely you are in flow by then and can do more easily. It was my start and now I walk 60-90 Minutes multiple times a week without even music, just thinking about my life and who I even am. It is a worthwhile pursuit. Good luck guys!
  • thanks for this video. i haven’t really been at my best in school because of my social media addiction. but for now on, every morning when i wake up, i’ll meditate for 5 minutes like you said. hopefully this will help me with my studies and such.

I really miss "long" content on youtube, 20-30 minute videos on what ever it, because it felt like it was worth it, even if it was a star wars lore video or a episode of Markiplier, it felt like you're taking time to do this, ware as tik tok YT shorts and reels just want to grab your attention and distract you from anything

On my work computer, I changed my youtube shortcut this video instead of the homepage. Suffice to say, it's helped. Now - instead of immediately distracting myself with random content - I take 5 minutes to think about focus, mediation, and being intentional. This 'guide' is really becoming more of a daily ritual for me, and I'm really glad I watched it

This has been 1 of the most simplest, real, shortest and a helpful video. Thank u for making me realise the importance of being focused and meditation.

Yes! As a psych major, describing self-control being a muscle we tense and relax over periods of time, built gradually by training, is hitting the nail right on its head! Thank you so much for spreading this!

I noticed that after meditating, i'm actually excited to work and get stuff done. I imagine it like my dopamine receptors are actually "cleansed" enough to enjoy the small dopamine hit of finishing a task. Idk if it makes any sense but yeah, meditating is great

lf more videos had this kind of style (chill music and, visuals and font) I would like to watch it even more than most of the other stuff out there. I often feel overwhelmed by the fast pace, sudden cuts and flashy editing of vids and quit them because of it, even though their topic was actually intresting for me. Thanks for this one ❤

Thank you, this actually worked! 🤯 A much better advice than just "pull yourself together and stop being addicted lmao"
  • Something I've been doing is a thing called morning pages, it's three pages every morning of stream of consciousness writing. Writing whatever comes to mind. I'm doing this in a classic composition notebook so the pages are fairly big (compared to most journals) so writing tends to take me 40 minutes to an hour depending on how focused I am, no phone, music, etc. Since it's writing, it's also interesting to examine the how's and why's of endless scrolling. For me it seems connected to my fear of waking up in the morning, the fear of having to face the world, so scrolling numbs it. I've been actively using the internet less (endless youtube videos and social media) and there's been a direct association for me to dissociate less, have less panic attacks, and be generally better in my skin. I believe it's because I get to curate more what I want to see, been using a pocket notebook to scribble, write down ideas, etc and when bored I've been looking back into that notebook which is 1) limited in information due to size and amount of pages and 2) things I care more about than random instagram crap. Also started a commonplace book for information I'd want to retain, another way to curate what I take in and want to remember. Paper has really been changing my life

This is actually the first video that i did not scroll away and i appreciate it so much! The way you insert the aesthetically pleasing background with ghibli is so fascinating. We love the efforts and thank you for your advice!
