Digging apatite & titanite crystals with Jeff (Off the Beaten Path) at the Smart Mine. AKA Lost mine (Lost and Smart are side by side on Miller Property). Worth the drive? - heck yeah!

He who is satisfied with little, is grateful for a lot!

Smart Mine is right beside Lost Mine on same property. One of my favourite spots in Ontario to collect. There is a donation "mailbox" near the entrance and the money goes to a Children's Hospital. No fires allowed. Look out for poison ivy and ticks. My buddy Jeff has his own Youtube channel. Look him up at "Off the Beaten Path".
  • Thanks for the add how, I like to see them cleaned up, safe at 🏡, 👍 Just remembered my bro. Birthday, today, nice memories!

The privilege of witnessing a turtle laying eggs makes the trip worth while.
  • That was a Blanding's turtle laying eggs. So cool! Threatened species. Looks like you and Jeff had an awesome time!

  • Look's Like It Is . And For You Yes . But It Will Be a Long Long Drive For Me LOL. And The Little Red Bug's Are Out Way Down Hear To . Dun Had One. 😎👍✌.
  • Keep an eye on the tick bite. Tenacious little buggers! Hubby had one that started borrowing in as well. Like youself got medical care asap.

You definately had a bucket of beauties. Thanks for sharing.
  • im jealous haha my parents went there yesterday, im envious for some apatite
  • I finally got around to buying one of those textile guns you recommended, such a useful tool. Have you ever used one of those Termacells? they are surprisingly awesome imo. I use one in the deep woods doing archaeology for a couple years now. Easy to refill the cells and butane once you have seen a youtube video or 2. The battery ones are nice, but need to get the ones designed to be carried around as the other models use really weak magnets and it tends to come apart in a backpack. They also have the added bonus of driving away ticks. Sry i never replied to your last email, had some really bad health problems come up and havent been able to think about much else for a long time now.
  • How was the drive in? Heading in on Sunday. I know it’s supposed to piss rain but that doesn’t stop me 😂
