Everyone wants to be happy, but it seems like such an unobtainable goal. Should we focus on making money? Should we focus on pursuing our passions? Or should we just become a monk in the mountains. Luckily for us, the Japanese have already cracked the code. They have a formula for happiness called Ikigai.

You don't need money to be happy, but money sure does take away a lot of the things you can be UNHAPPY about.
  • But what if you have no interest in anything. Existential crisis intensifies

Well, my work is taking care of people who are suffering from dementia. So maybe I don't change the world, but I change the world of those people. I love my job, its a wellpaying job. I think I found happiness

It’s cool how other cultures have many solutions to modern problems.
  • Holy shit, I'm reading the book "the happiness equation " and I'm reading the part where he talks about Ikigai as you posted this video XD

Being in a relationship is stressful, talking to people is annoying, going out is waste of time so I decided to be alone and concentrate on my job to pay the bills
  • This is actually a misinterpretation of what Ikigai is. This is a western interpretation to help those find purpose in the world. If this works for you then thats okay. The true meaning of Ikigai as the Japanese envision it, is to find beauty in the little things. This can be as simple as enjoying the sun rise, or sweeping the dust off of your porch. Finding joy in the mundane promotes the joy from within.

I have so much potential, I see the world in a different way, and I have so much talent. BUT I’m always scared to show myself, to put myself out there, I wish I can show people what I can do, maybe just maybe, I will have a chance to have a better life.
