President Joe Biden said on Wednesday he pulled out of the race against Republican Donald Trump over concerns about the future of US democracy, explaining he was stepping aside to allow a new generation to take over in his first public remarks since ending his re-election bid.

In an Oval Office address, Biden invoked previous presidents Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln as he described his love for the office that he will leave in six months, capping a half century in public office.

Kevin O'Sullivan is joined by US political commentator Laurie Laird who says there's a lot of "hypocrisy" by the Democrats, as they hadn't considered getting rid of Biden until George Clooney told him to stand down.

    Word is he is dead . Hospitalised two Saturdays ago. It explains the letters and phone calls to communicate that and very brief public showings. Somethings going on. I feel it on my bones. Mark my words there will be a false flag event on it soon. Plus his wife is different around him. Little things make up a clearer picture. He is gone.
