I've heard people compare the two with "Luna is socially awkward, while Bee is awkwardly social."
  • @GbyP
Bee wasn't wrong though, she got a bad vibe from Blitzo suffering from something and drinking to forget his problems
  • People need to learn that just because a character is flawed and someone calls them flawed, doesn't mean you're wrong for liking that character, it also doesn't mean someone is wrong for criticizing them.
  • @Shiftarus
I think the portrayal of the "sins" in this show is very deliberate... they are flawed but not necessarily evil or irredeemable. One of the core themes of the show is that people are not perfect, but that doesn't mean they are unworthy of love or forgiveness.

The only part of this I strongly disagree with is the interpretation of Bee approaching Luna. Be explains that she can feel the vibe of the people at her party. This would include Blitz. She's not saying that the party is worse and Blitz is making it bad. She's saying that she can taste the energy of people there, including Blitz, and she can feel that he's hurting. When she motions to the crowd, she has no problem with people drinking and being too much, but they're doing it to have fun and she can taste that. Blitz is doing it to escape, and she can feel that as well. That's how I read it.
  • I'm surprised you didn't notice that she immediately was concerned by how much and how aggressively Blitz was drinking here 11:05. her expression, which was also hidden, doesn't seem jealous or offended, but concerned for his health. if feels like she wanted to have a fun game and Blitz was clearly in downward spiral.

I think its worth noting Bee is a primordial entity that is worshipped basically like a Goddess so that may color her social tact a little bit.
  • @realrealwarpet
To be fair to queen bee calling out blitz, i always assumed it wasn’t that he was going hard, its that he’s self destructing. This was after the incident at ozzies, and he’s very vulnerable right now. Someone self destructing like that, is possibly what she was feeling. He was purring bad ingredients in her honey, essentially. But to REALLY understand bee, we need to see her outside of her area. What’s she like outside of a party? How does she act with just tex? When people aren’t there to see her. She’s got the mask up here, and is that different to how she normally is?
  • @Lazyspaceout
I see her as blunt character, with ADHD. She shown to be easily distracted from the original conversation with Loona, she forgot what she was saying in the middle of it lol.

I think Queen Bee is meant to come off AS a narcissistic creep, but the end of the episode where she is gracious in defeat to Blitz, and only gets mad at Loona when she feels shes being disrespected, it shows shes deeper than she comes off as. Now, she says she can taste the flavor of the party. I take that as being in tune to a vibe. Ive been to parties where i got a bad vibe, didn't say something, and bad stuff happened. I took this as her being serious about not liking the vibes coming from Blitz. And she was right, he ends the episode passing out mumbling about dying alone. Hes in a bad spot, and drinking in a bad headspace can be a bad time. Thats my view anyway.

That cosplay and those hair highlights look great. I think Bee does have a high opinion of herself and acts high and mighty, but it isn't intentionally ill willed. After all, she literally feeds off the positive energy in the room, and we see how she doesn't like when people using partying as a coping mechanism, like Blitzø was doing. Deep down, she does care about others in her own way.
  • @OriasRofocale
As a cartoonist, Bee's expressions when talking to Loona look sincere. That's how I would draw sincere concern, though the scene may have been paced too quickly to make it come off that way... but Vivzie definitely crams a lot of plot beats in, so it's not out of pace for her. It might have been better to do a clean cut, but I think her expression to Tex was like, the first sense she had that Blitz might have come to her party with an inner turmoil that could go bad, so she was probably keeping an eye on him. She shares that concerned look with Tex, which I think goes to ground it a bit more, almost like she's getting a second opinion, even if he doesn't have her preternatural sense. Since she's a magical creature personifying the sin of gluttony, I can believe that that she can literally taste the energy as one of her Prince powers, and since we know Blitz was literally coming off his bad date with Stolas and using this as a bad coping method. Like a princess literally feeling a pea under 9 mattresses and not being able to sleep well. Blitz hadn't ruined the party yet, but he could have if he didn't get checked up on now, or like telling one person at a party that their friend got too drunk or high and needed some help or attention... which Blitz actually needed, so that was certainly true. The high of the party might literally be her life or food source, so maintaining its positivity could be self-serving, but at least others mutually benefit from it... like Lust benefits its participants, but Greed not so much. Her comments with nice and bite though, those I could see going either way, although they were probably there to put us in Loona's position where we don't know if Bee is mocking or inviting in Loona. Loona feels rejected of course because she was into Tex, though he mentioned he had a girlfriend. She probably thought they might break up or she might have an in later, but seeing her romantic rival was the Prince of Gluttony, yeah, she had to accept that wasn't going to happen. I think that's why she got invited back in by another cute hellhound boy to show her even if Tex won't be interested in her, she shouldn't let the social anxiety win and should give it another go. Very fun cosplay going into this one! I do wonder if we will get any further clarification on Bee later. Given that she was voiced by Kesha, probably not, but I guess it's still possible. I think she is one of the more mutualistic of Seven deadly sins along with Lust, possibly just because of the nature of indulgence at least means everyone is getting treated whereas Mammon has to draw his power from depriving others. I wouldn't be surprised if Envy and Wrath are less supportive sins. I mean Satan, the wrath is possibly forced more outward, but a lot of the imps from wrath keep dying in their versions of sport, and that's a permanent thing, so it's definitely rough. Sloth I can see being more neutral, because it's powered by inaction. It's probably comfortable, but dulling. Pride is a functional dumpster fire, but I think we can say Lucifer runs with a disinterest, so probably neutral. He isn't hurting or helping the sinners for the most part, but put himself above and away from it for the most part.

"bee was ticked he was stealing her limelight" she's a supernatural quasi-deity who thrives on excess, and she's determined that positive excess, in the same way ozzie's consensual lust, is her favorite food. blitz is the only guy at the party stinking of hurt feelings and rebound energy and crapping up the place.
  • @pageachatter229
One thing I will give this show credit for is having Bee, the embodiment of gluttony, recognize the dangers of using consumption as a coping mechanism. In the same way they have Asmodeus, the embodiment of lust, acknowledge the importance of consent. That was a nice touch.
  • @zeframmann1641
QB always came off to me like a rave-mom who genuinely makes sure the partiers are safe and taken care of. The contrast between Loona and QB is also a contrast between introverts and extroverts. I feel like if a lot of people think you're being uncharitable to Bee it's because she seemed to accept her loss to Blitzo pretty graciously (if a bit concerned for his health). If she's knocking Loona it doesn't seem to be on purpose, but from Loona's perspective it can seem that way.
  • @dodiswatchbobobo
It WAS kind of wild to see you break down the Satan tangent scene that almost every single ADHD person sees and goes “SO relatable” and say “yep, this is how narcissists behave.” Probably made a couple people scared.
  • @RumForBreakfast
TBH I think Bee just... has a sense of self. All her confidence is matched by reality in terms of who she is, her power, position, looks, and all that.
  • @ChasehaWing
3:41 I always considered her using the word "pup" because she can tell that Loona is new to the party scene. She can taste her immaturity and inexperience and knew she didn't even have any friends yet, so she sees her as a bit new and a "pup" to this party scene. I don't think it was intended to be condescending, as Vortex sees her the same way. He saw her little puppy crush on him when they met and wants her to gain experience and to intermingle with actual hell hounds, to help her grow up, mature and become a more complete person (as I sometimes think Loona is trapped in the same teenage mental space from when she was in the orphanage. Biologically she is in her early 20's, but emotionally she is stuck in a teenager mindset.)
  • @drmorpheus2311
So I think, Bee coming off as... dont remember what word you used for it but when she was talking to Luna about Blitz... It makes sense until you hear Blitz at the end saying he had a really bad day and was afraid he was going to die alone. Bee could taste his energy, she could tell that his drinking wasn't for fun, it was to drown out his own thoughts. I do think she was actually worried about Blitz, but there was a tiny bit of her ego in the way she worded everything
