Discovering new Pokemon that you've never seen before is one of the best parts about the Pokemon series, but did you know there are several forms of Pokemon that exist right now that you may have never heard of before? In today's video, we're going to be looking at several Pokemon with obscure alternate forms that have either never been officially seen before, or that you might have never heard about. This is an especially interesting one, so I hope you enjoy!

  • if onix isn't in scarlet/violet or can't become terastalize water type that would be a huge missed opportunity to finally bring the crystal onix into the games

Arecus not getting a Ultimate Form in Pokemon Legends Arceus was a missed opportunity because the only detail we have is in a Pokedex entry saying that Arecus has over 1,000 arms! Seening Arecus in its true form would have been so awesome!

Man, seeing that Dark Jolteon card again reminds me of why Jolteon is my favorite Eeveelution.
  • The ancient gastrodon form is actually such a good idea for a paldean gastrodon since the whole theme is past & future.
  • My image for true arceus is the beta sprite. The beta sprite was ethereal, and inconceivable kinda like how God of Judeo-Christian religions is described (this extends to the biblically accurate angels we all know and love) Beta Arceus is also seemingly fluid and that can be interpreted as a being that's omnipresent which is the way I interpret the countless arms. If it had a much more detailed artwork, maybe sprinkle in some nebulas and starfire on it to signify that it is a heavenly being (kinda like league's Aurelion Sol), that it is the one above all

They made Light Toxtricity for the 25th anniversary. They went back to old gimmicks from the TCG and reprinted them with new Pokémon (Zacian Lvl. X, Dragapault Prime, Mimikyu Delta Species)
  • Speaking of the tcg, another feature in there that seems like it inspired an addition to the main series games would be the delta pokemon. From what I recall, they were basically pokemon with types that were different than what they normally were, and there was a whole storyline within the cards that talked about how they were all found in a specific special region. You could say that this was what eventually brought about regional variants.

One of my favorite instances of this is in Pokémon stadium and Pokémon stadium 2 when you give certain nicknaming conventions to Pokémon it changes their color- but doesn't make them shiny

Light Pokémon! They brought them back in Pokémon GO a few years ago. If you catch and purify a shadow Pokémon it essentially turns into a “light” form with altered stats and a cool glowy white aura around it.

I was hoping that if you get all the Unknown alphabet, you could fuse it to Arceaus to make a ultimate form.

I wish some future gen will give each Arbok from different regions their corresponding hood. In case some of you don’t know, Arbok have different hoods depending on the region they are from.
  • @AlexDayz
Light Pokémon remind me a lot of purified Pokémon which you can see a lot of in Pokémon Go after purifying a shadow Pokémon. It’s basically the counterpart to them there.
  • @M_Alexander
Fun fact: the Colorless type in the TCG was given to not just Normal but also Dragon type Pokémon! Early cards like Dratini and its evos were Colorless as well
  • @23skiddsy6
This reminds me I have a spiky ear pichu and Pikachu-colored pichu locked away on Soul Silver, because they lose their form if they get moved to another generation.
  • @remkat
Square shiny Pokémon are another special shiny that people often don’t know about. In SwSh, there’s a small chance that a shiny Pokémon has “square” sparkles rather than the star shaped ones.
  • Light Toxtrixity getting a promo card in the 25th anniversary TCG set that's explicitly celebrating every mechanic in the games history makes total sense. We have a Dark Sylveon. An owner's Pokemon. We had a Zacian Lv X. The only thing we didn't get was a new ex, EX and GX card.
  • @anomalymon
I was hoping deltas would be mentioned, but I'm not sure if they're well known or not, they were my introduction to the TCG (and responsible for me being wrong about many types), and they're actually very fascinating because there was a whole lore and region surrounding them with the Holon region! I wonder if that might work for an obscure regions video, Southern Islands is another obscure TCG-only region. I wish they'd do that in the TCG again because as a kid it was fun to piece together this little region that only existed in the card games haha
  • @Ethan-ls7fu
I think light pokemon are really similar to totem pokemon, both are coated in the light of the region, which boosts their bulkiness, hp, and doesn't change their appearance other than, well, light
  • I feel very strongly that what we know as Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark had an even earlier form. My guess is possibly it was fairy type at that point. The dex entries and lore definitely imply this to me.

So when it comes to the Colosseum shinys I believe its more of a technical limitation rather then a error by the developers. When it comes to 3D graphics it's not the mesh (the actual 3D model) that has a large file size but rather the textures themselves are. I assume they couldn't justify giving every Pokemon 2 separate textures so most had a filter applied to them or otherwise had their texture changed though code for their shiny forms.
