I think the first red flag may have been that stopping to investigate dead animals was normal behavior.

Nothing says "I love you" quite like kidnapping someone. That poor girl, she must have been utterly traumatized. I've heard of this story before, but had no idea she had permanent injuries.

OMG. It boggles my mind that supposedly empathetic people felt "sorry" for Julian, but totally discounted the horrendous way he treated another person. Where is their empathy for Caroline and recognition of physical and mental damage she will spend the rest of her life dealing with because of the sociopath?
