When Mike arrives at the home of Val and Dave, he thought it was an exterior renovation repair only- until he went inside.

Originally, the scope of the project involved repairing a home that suffered from defective brick- the face of the brick was falling off, causing it to quickly erode. This weakened masonry was causing the chimney to lean dangerously and the bottom rows of brick were so compromised that replacement was needed to prevent the brick walls from collapsing.

When Mike went inside the home, he discovered that the homeowners were literally drowning in their own possessions. There were mounds of stuff piled to the ceiling in almost every room in the house. There was so much junk crammed in the basement that it wasn’t even possible for Mike and the team to do a basic electrical and HVAC inspection. Mike decides that a clean-up intervention is needed, to save the homeowners from themselves.

the homeowners are right, it shouldn't need mike holmes to come and fix and issue after 6 years and thousands of $
  • I continue to find it unbelievable that the company that installed this does not even know what they are doing and then leaves the people out in the cold without providing a solution. And that an external company actually found the solution quite quickly after so many years of misery. I may not always agree with Holmes but by involving the right people he provided the solution for these people who had been working on this for years and it is unbelievable that you have a guarantee but it actually does not matter, they do not fix it if there are problems.

The original name for Duct tape is "Duck Tape" the whole point was it's water resistance and tensile strength. Hence Duck in the name. Over time the name changed to duct tape and people thought it was for use in heating ducts
