Actually Kratos released that hope to mankind when he stabbed himself. Athena wanted that hope for her own purpose. After he stabbed himself she screamed "They wont know what to do with it"

You could say what you want, but when he ascended to the throne of God of War, it was a most badass way to end a video game.

What I like so far about the recent game is that you don’t really have to have played the previous titles. Which was a smart move considering the first game came out 14 years ago and few people would replay them all. So long as you know that Kratos is a demigod and killed all the Greek pantheon you’re pretty much good! Obviously his history is more complex, but to appeal to a wider audience this was the best way to handle the story.

God of War is such a great series in that it reframes the notion of who actually is the true villain... Athena She wanted the hope and power of olympus for herself, so she deceived Kratos over the year into killing all who actually stood in her way of true power. She foresaw the future and usefulness for Kratos early on, which is why she told Ares to spare him as a child when they took Demos. And she is the only God to ever truly give the “how-to’s” and the “who-to-kill-next” missions for Kratos over the course of the series. Kratos is the best anti-hero in that by his own selfish and violent venture for revenge and redemption, he ultimately and unknowingly gives the hope and power back to the people, who have been blindly accepting and worshipping the gods who sat on top of their pedestal of Mt. Olympus ...I’m so excited for God Of War!!

I'm watching this in 2022 before playing GoW now that it's on PC. That was such an awesome summary. I can only imagine the insane amount of time and effort videos like this take. Props to you and keep putting out valuable content!
