How to Dominate Mega Man's Weirdest Intro Stage

While I don't agree with a lot of bile thrown at Mega Man & Bass/Rockman & Forte, there's no denying that it's still got its fair share of issues and unlikeable quirks. Its Intro Stage is a marvelous demonstration of what the player has to look forward to for the rest of the game... for better or worse.

It's not as difficult as exaggerated, but the way the Mole enemies work in this stage is intriguing enough to warrant a more analytical discussion. This video will break down their patterns that most aren't privy to, and provide practical solutions to trivialize the stage for ease of replayability.

I play this on original hardware with the authentic Japanese copy of Rockman & Forte (with a hard modded SNES to play Super Famicon carts).

Megaman and Bass... My favorite Classic Megaman Game 🥰

I recently recorded a mm&b no damage savestated run, no cap. And the intro stage was honestly one of the easiest parts of the run, but it did take a lot of attempts due to how clumsy I can be lol
  • I know this stage was made to see the potential of the game but it's indeed weird, you are outside, you enter a sort of museum, next dorr is a furnace, museum again, water classic part, a submarine, museum again, outside in the rain, green devil boss. I imagine Megaman thinking for himself "What the actual F is happening here"

More bite-sized "guides" like this one would be cool, if/when you're feeling them. Seems like a good middle ground. Also, I'm a bit surprised you don't care about level design at all. It seems like something you'd care about as a challenge runner, so I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on why not, if it's anything more elaborate than simply "I don't care." Great video!
  • I'm glad MM8's sprite/style were used once more. They truly are beautiful

Great quick video. Found the channel a few days ago and been loving all of the classic mega man content. You are truly a master and an inspiration. Thank you

Man I forgot how much this stage threw at you right off the bat, I had no idea why I thought I could beat this game as a kid after this lol.

I usually just damage boost through almost everything in the intro stage of Mega Man & Bass, hehe.

Always nice to see a MM&B video that isn't just pushing the same tired opinion of "Game bad because hard/a couple design flaws/the sloppy GBA port tainted all my impressions/not 8-bit."
  • @Rotseer
I feel like this game is so criminally slept on

Oh nice! My favorite Classic Mega Man is getting some attention. Good run!
  • @izzi_sins

Of all the stuff I heard about MM&B, I didn’t think people disliked the Intro stage that much. Maybe it was a bit much for a starter stage, but I still thought it was good compared to others. Neat info on the moles though, I might have to keep that in mind if I decide to ever touch this game again 👌

Robot Museum is one of my favorite stage themes in the entire franchise
