David Bowie : David Bowie 1967 - Deluxe Edition 2LP Vinyl & 2CD : Reviews
David Bowie’s debut album emerged during the height of Swinging London. • A great review. It looks like they did a great job on this. The Starman returned to the sky, but will never be forgotten. 🎤🌠 Take care!

The Laughing Gnome is great! Remember seeing it on TOTP or simililar and loved it!

Developed a bit of love for the early Bowie stuff over the last few years - it’s certainly been reissued a lot ! I have a really nice 10 track vinyl album from Germany of the debut album with a different cover which I really like 👍

This record was the greatest thing up to DB'S next album ! then that was the greatest thing up to his next album ! then that was......... No one else matters in music making 👌That lad D Jonesy's characters just flew out everywhere for us all to live inside
  • Great review, Phil. As always. The CD looks like a repackaged version of the 2010 De Luxe edition I have. Also have the 1997 Deram Anthology 1966-1968, which covers similar ground. I love this period of Bowie’s career, I know not everyone likes it, but each to his own.

This was a great review of David Bowie's first album especially being from his early years as he was just starting out in the the music world thank you Phil have a good week.🎸🎹🥁

I bought an earlier version of the Deluxe CD about 2 Years ago, with 2 CDs in a transparent case. CD 1 has the original 14 Songs in both Mono and Stereo, while CD 2 contains of 25 extra tracks: Single versions, unreleased songs, remixes, a BBC Top Gear recording, and more. The booklet is 24 Pages vs 12 Pages on the new edit here, with some real great shots that are missing on the new release. All in all an interesting record to listen to once, to see where he came from and what his musical horizons were before he was reborn as the Star from outer space. I was visiting London a few times in 1972 and 1974, and i remember having bought this Album there, in some cheapo edition (Music For Pleasure Series?) Back then i did not like it a lot though

Hallo Phil :hand-pink-waving:as a hard rock fan I came across the album David Bowie "Space Oddity" (German edit. diff. cover and title) in the early 70s and liked it so much that I bought all the albums after that as soon as they came out, that lasted until the Berlin Trilogy ‘Low’, ‘Heroes’ and ‘Lodger’ . I saw Bowie twice here at concert in the 70s, great shows I will never forget ! my fave album is " The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust..." but the other albums also have their charm and above all, memories of 70s youth😊 thanks for presenting this Deluxe Editions of the first album, which is actually the only one of the early albums I don't have on vinyl, now is noted ! kind regards from Berlin.

Hi. If you compare it with Bowie's later work, it is a bad album. But if you compare it with a lot of sixties albums, it's an average album and no that bad. That's how I always have thought this album. End in the end, it's pure David Bowie in that time. Take care.

I'm happy with my 1997 "The Deram Anthology 1966-1968" cd. It was basically the 1st remastered re-issue of the debut album with bonus tracks of non album singles & their b-sides released during 1966-68. Do you have it Phil ?
  • @makka7890
Nice review Phil. Thanks for the t-shirt, it 's a perfect fit. I was going to say it fits like a glove but that's a contradiction in terms.
  • @elfandetodo6787
No estoy seguro si la nueva edición contiene el mismo remaster del 2010, acabo de notar que en el unboxing del canal CDJapan en el folleto dice que el nuevo remaster solo está en el nuevo vinyl
  • Hi Phil, great review. There is a 2CD version of this album released in 2010 with 53 tracks. The new release you reviewed in the video. Has it been newly remastered? Or the same 'Master' from 2010? Best wishes, Darren
  • @mikewest1542
I bought the rerelease in 1982 ( I think ) on Vinyl, unfortunately I haven’t the original. Now worth at least a grand on the UK version , great album though , very varied!
