Genius chess move by the company, if you need high speed footage to test your product and it go's boom just send it to Gav and Dan and then watch their results ahah

Speaking of explosive safety devices, you should check out an AAD (automatic activation device) used in skydiving. A small computer tracks your altitude against your freefall speed and if you are traveling a certain speed beneath a certain altitude a small explosive device fires a cutter that cuts a line that releases your reserve parachute.

Have you guys ever thought about filming a welding arc? It's essentially an arc of electricity that has bits of metal traveling along with it. I've only ever seen illustrations and animations of it, but I don't believe anyone has ever managed to capture a welding arc that shows the blobs of metal in them or exactly what it's doing to the base metal in slow motion. Would be really educational, especially for those who are already working in the field.

It completely went unnoticed but at 5:54 you can see the LED blink a few times as the electricity finds pathways through the debris before everything becomes too separated and the LED goes out for good. Fascinating!

Love that Dan says "10 minute mark" exactly 10 minutes into the video edit. Sneaky Gav.

One thing that might be cool is DLP projectors that use colour wheels to create a full colour image from just a single colour laser, by passing the laser through a series of spinning wheel that filter or convert the light. They also often display onto something called a DMD, which is a tiny chip full of extremely tiny mirrors for every pixel that physically flip dozens of times for every frame, but that is probably extremely hard to film.

The sound design in these videos is insane. It's hard to remember sometimes that the phantom doesn't record the sounds
-
The fact that the timer hits 10 minutes right as Dan says it is editing perfection πππ
-
I've always thought that up-close slow mo of metal being welded and the puddle of molten metal flowing around would be interesting.

All this time, I had been searching for an EDC fire extinguisher. My calls have been answered!

You guys are genuinely the coolest youtube channel
-
in a confined space, it works a treat, and cuts the power instantly. I hope these guys never run out of things to film in slow-mo.

Dan: I don't like pushing triggers. Also Dan, used to be an explosives expert in the Army

I love how Gav highlighted a critical aspect of the scientific method. Thank you for striving to employ it. It legitimises the use of lab coats.
-
Gav's little editing touches are brilliant, no question that Dan's "10 minute mark" comment landing right on 10 mins (with the ding!) was intentional! HAHAHAHAH
-
Love that you guys don't do so many videos that they get stale, this is great
-
I'm just imagining the company sent this to you because they didn't want to pay for their own slow-mo footage for product development purposes π
-
I've got to say, because I think most people don't notice - the camera/editing work in real time parts is brilliant. Beautiful focus, bokeh, lighting, color grading. Good job!

In the... god i really don't know how many years... that i've been watching this channel, this is the first time that I've decided to watch it on a desktop instead of a mobile device. Nice to see it in genuine 2k

Crazy that at 5:54 the light flickers instead of just going off like before
