Before my parents were married, they took a trip to Vegas with a group of friends. When they went to the first casino, my mom bet just a quarter. She won fifty cents, put the quarters in her pocket, and then said "okay, I'm done". Iconic family story.

As someone who went to Vegas this past summer, I can confirm that the SECOND you step off the jetbridge at Harry Reid, you see slot machines. And you will likely see one every 2 feet for the duration of your stay.

Born and raised in Nevada, and this is a perfect explanation of gambling. Oh this and remember that casinos are able to offer room rates and other benefits that are cheap when compared to similar offerings from non-casino resorts, but are just their way to get you into their resort

In australia, its actually illegal to have a casino without clocks/windows. I think thats why las vegas was such a culture shock to me, because as james mentions, you step into the airport and BOOM casino.
