About Who's The Boss?:
Being a parent is tough; being a single parent is even tougher. So when injuries and his wife's death force ex-baseball player Tony Micelli (Tony Danza) into retirement, and a single mom, high powered advertising executive Angela Bower (Judith Light), needed someone to run her household, it was a match made in heaven. Or was it? After convincing her free spirited, mischievous mother, Mona Robinson (Katherine Helmond), that hiring Tony is the right thing to do, the less-than-tidy Angela welcomes him and his daughter Samantha (Alyssa Milano) as the live-in housekeeper for her and her son Jonathan (Danny Pintauro). And while their relationship starts out businesslike and platonic, becoming best friends and confidants makes it hard for two attractive, single adults living under one roof to resist their more grown-up impulses.

The best part of this pilot episode was the opening credits. Just Tony driving to the house. Takes us back to a different time.

I wish more major networks would bring back the family sitcoms. America needs them right now.

I loved it when he said he loved his daughter more.

A-O, O-A.....the 80s sitcoms are amazing...Family Ties, Growing Pains...reality shows have killed television.

Their father/daughter relationship is very refreshing to see and watch.

I haven’t seen this pilot episode since I was a kid in the 1980s. Wow, the chemistry between Tony Danza and Judith Light was instant and through the roof already!

THESE OLD SITCOMS HAD 25 MINUTES OF ENTERTAINMENT AND 5 MINUTES OF COMMERCIALS...NOW IT IS THE OTHER WAY AROUND...

I can't believe this is the pilot. The easy chemistry between every single actor feels like they've been working together for years.

This pilot was well done. Everyone was very charming. I used to watch this show back in the 80’s.

Sam: Dad, how can a woman make enough money to afford a great house like this? Tony: She works hard and is real smart. You could do the same thing. What a powerful and important message to young girls of that (and really any) time.🖒
  • You'd never catch me doing something dumb like sleeping with my employer--until the final season.

This show came out the year I was uprooted and moved to a new town after my parents divorce. It sounds lame but I was also going to a “brand new life around the bend” and it changed my life like it did Tony and Sam’s. This show meant the world to me. Still does.

WOW!, this was the pilot and look how well they meshed... as if they'd been acting together for years. No wonder the show went on to be one of the most popular sitcoms of the 1980's & up and run for 8 seasons! ('84-'92)

The natural chemistry between Tony and Judith from day one is quite an amazing thing to rewitness.
  • This pilot was sensational. What great chemistry. It played out like it was a veteran show that was a smash hit.

“Who’s The Boss’ll be back in a moment, stick around.”

I swear, 80s sitcoms had the best opening theme songs. This, Family Matters, Growing Pains, Perfect Strangers, Family Ties, Full House, Step By Step.
  • I believe this is probably one of the best tv shows growing up in the 80's i remember as a kid
