True story. Marla Gibbs who portrays Florence wasn't originally going to be part of the show after her appearance in the pilot but based upon the live audience reaction to her last line,"black people overcame and nobody told me" earned her the part on the show. Thanks Unsung!

Tom & Helen were so vital to the show. Loved their characters.
-
Those old shows were so good ! Nice to revisit in 2023.
-
Louise WAS right though. I couldn't hire a friend to be my maid either. Business & friendship do NOT work.
-
Florence: "Well, how come we 'overcame' and nobody told me?!"π€£π€£π€£π€£ Best line ever! LOL

This show saved my life during my unhappy marriage life.

She was right, they didn't need a maid, but they needed Florence.
-
ππGeorge didnβt know what he was getting into with Florence!ππ
-
George and Florence they are why the show was such a hit, they kept bickering at each other, mother Jefferson kept picking on Louise. ππππππππππππ

One of the best family sitcoms of all time. Hilarious!
-
They didn't use bad language to make people laugh and they were still fantastic!
-
This show will forever stand the test of time.
-
Fun fact: The Jeffersons theme song, "Moving on Up," was composed and sung by Ja'Net DuBois, who played Willona Woods on "Good Times."

I used to have a little produce business in Los Angeles and I would occasionally sell wholesale to restaurants and bars that sold meals. One of the places was called Memory Lane on Martin Luther King Blvd, which was owned by Ms. Marla Gibbs. Talk about one of the sweetest people youβd ever want to meet.

They just donβt make television shows like this anymore! ππ»β€οΈ

I grew up in Nigeria and loved watching this. Thank you for uploading. I almost cant watch, I am tearing up just out of sheer nostalgia and happiness.
-
George was really serious in the early episodes later, seasons more laid back, and smiled more
