I like to think Mario and Sonic's relationship canonically grew out of their petty rivalry. They grew older and more mature as the years went by.

I like to think of Mario and Sonic as war veterans who learned to forgive each other and become homies.

As a Mario guy, I'm grateful that Sonic existed to motivate Nintendo to keep working hard on making great Mario games. Hopefully, Sonic Frontiers will start a bright era for the mainline Sonic games. EDIT: I never thought I'd get almost 3,000 likes and 76 replies from many people.

My favorite era has to be friends era. It really does show some heart and standards Sonic and Mario has for each other, even after a decade of rivalry. I hope Sega and Nintendo continues to expand their friendship.

It’s kinda weird how nowadays sonic and Mario seem to be friends, even tho a big part of SEGA’s marketing was “SEGA do what Ninten-Dont”

I love the fact that sonic and Mario teamed up after getting bombed when Sony appeared. And I also love the fact that sonic has consistently been staying afloat due to just how much of a hardcore cult fanbase those early games created. Sonic and Mario need each other to stay relevant and thanks to their rivalry they basically cemented themselves into gaming history forever so neither brand will ever completely die. There will always be sonic fans and Mario fans, these two literally can’t die 😂
  • "Mario was the nice church girl you take home with your parents and Sonic is the chick waiting for the hot girl su-"
  • As a sonic guy I appreciate mario being along for the ride and nowadays being good friends
  • The relationship between an Italian plumber and the world's fastest hedgehog is very compelling. I can't wait to see Shigeru Miyamoto challenge Yuji Naka to an epic fight, just like in the same way as what Iwata and Reggie did and that would be a perfect picture.

A sonic and mario crossover game would be absolutely revolutionary. As king as they did it right. It needs to have a good mix of development, not specifically Sega or nintendo, the quality of nintendo, the speed and music of Sega, if they mix that all together in a normal classic platformer game with at least a somewhat ok story, that would be the shit. If I ever got a wish it would be that.

Kiro Talks: “Even your greatest enemies can become your greatest friends!” Goku: “You got that right!”

As a Mario and Sonic fan these two will always have created thousands of childhood memories and helped people through so many bad times
  • Really enjoyed this. Its amazing how mario and sonic went from bitter rivals to friends. I grew up with both of these guys and I’m so happy to see them still rule the video game world. It brings a tear to my eye and a smile to my face.
  • "Suddenly a new Challenger appeared" missed opportunity to use the new Challenger sound from super smash Bros

These two characters have truly changed the gaming market. The rival he is the best on the planet, I am so happy to see these two characters eventually getting along. But one thing we need to revive them, to make them go to their former glory, it’s a crossover game. Not like the Olympic games, or the cameos, we need like,a true Mario and Sonic game. Like, for example, somehow egg man uses the chaos emeralds to transport sonic and tails to another dimension, that dimension being Mario’s dimension. And they have to find a way to gather all the chaos emeralds in the beat egg man, who teamed up with Bowser. That would be really cool. I guarantee you with that if they gave them a crossover game such as the one I just described, it could possibly be the highest grossing video game of all time. Anyway, thank you so much for this video. I genuinely got emotional, and I am so glad to see these two characters I love going back to their former glory. I am positive that, slowly but surely, these characters will dominate the gaming market once again, and when that happens, I can die happy man 😌
  • "In 2006 we got the Nintendo Wii" haven't heard that name in ages almost makes a grown man cry and that's okay

Old days: Sonic trying to destroy mario and his house (Nintendo Console) Now days: Sonic live inside mario house and become a roomate

I love both Mario and Sonic. I never had a favorite between the two, just frustration that Sega decided not to give Sonic the best treatment possible. Heck, I like seeing them work together and I want more games like that.

Back then, I was always a Mario guy. Then I played Sonic Rush for the first time, my first Sonic title, and my god the sense of speed in that game is insane, I later got Sonic Unleashed for my PS3, and it somehow surpassed that. SEGA is still going strong today not as a video game creator, but as a publisher. Since SEGA owns Atlus, they own the Persona and SMT franchises, which are super big in their own rights. And ofc, they own the Yakuza series, another big hit. Nintendo is still the giant they still are though, the Switch asserting its dominance with it being hard to find PS5's. Plus, the uniqueness of playing a console game on the go is revolutionary, even today. I will definitely, these two companies will stay relevant for a very long time

I haven't played the most recent Sonic and Mario Olympic Games but those first games were actually pretty good.
