The reason why it is called the Drawing Room, is that the posher classes, when they were having dinner parties, when they finished eating, they would withdraw to another room, where they would relax. Overtime, Withdrawing Room, was shortened to Drawing Room.

A drawing room is a comfortable room that you would withdraw to after a meal in the dining room
