NOBODY gave a damn about Gymnastics until the GREAT OLGA KORBUT came on to the scene. Her bar routine is the GREATEST performance in history. SHE IS A STAR!!! LOVED, APPRECIATED AND RESPECTED. A GENIUS.

"always smile from your heart" -- Olga's infectious smile after her performances were always captivating. It's lovely seeing her love for the sports and the smiles on little girls that she coach were priceless :)

I think her influence is highly underrated. The modern gymnastics movement really starts with Olga. Right after her Olympics debut, gymnastics gyms started opening up. She inspired a generation of young women and girls. She was a fierce competitor in a small, very attractive package. My sister and 2 of my cousins were allowed to take gymnastics, as a reward for maintaining good grades. One of my cousins got an athletic scholarship. Olga lit the flame. Consider Al of the pressure she must have been under. The world was watching, and she delivered.

The names Nadia and Olga left me an indelible memory ever since their Olympic performance. I like the way how she talks, calm and reflective. Huge respect!

1972 Olympics, I was 7 years old. Watching Olga Korbut was the reason I wanted to be a gymnast! Thank you, Olga, for inspiring a generation of gymnasts!

At 80 years old, I had the pleasure of watching her perform and win her gold medals. Congratulations from a proud American gymnast.

That smile is just beautiful, and I love how she says it was not just a smile; that it came from her heart. She is truly a special lady. I love the story of how she met her fiance, Jay. :)

This girl did more for United States-Soviet relations than any politician ever did.

She seems one of the few gymnasts who really enjoyed what they were doing: see the sparks in her eyes, the smile...

Olga was such a gymnast. She was so amazing in the 1972 Olympics. I wish I could tell her how great she is. It's great having you in the United States of America. God bless You, Olga.

So glad Olga seems to be living a good life. She seems still engaged in life and happy and seems like a funny and lovely person. If she wanted to sell her medals to help others and have some financial security good for her. It was because of her that I begged my parents to take gymnastics lessons and made my dad build me a beam in the basement to play on. Thanks for the great memories Olga and God bless you

I was about 20 years old, walking down the street in Los Angeles near McArthur Park. I paused at a little TV shop just as Olga Korbut walked up to the uneven bars on a display model in the window. Watching her, my jaw dropped and my heart leapt. I stood there in awe for a few minutes after her performance, finally walking on to wherever it was I was going. It remains the single most memorable Olympic moment for me.
