I like picking wafer locks, they are relatively easy to pick and rake and there are lots of them around to practise on (make sure they are yours and not in use!). In this video, I'll take you through lots of different tools and picks that can be used to get into wafer locks and some tips too.

Remember: only pick locks that are yours and that are not in use!

Always wondered what those weird picks in my goso set were for, never seen anyone explain them before. Thanks Ash
  • @roncalabrese305
don't care what anybody says that is actually a good set and it works on a variety of cars

after locking myself out multiple times at my apartment, I decided to get this set. I know next to nothing about picking but I'm surprised how easy it is. and this was really informative. I had no clue what these were. so far my go to pick is one of the small feeler picks. now I know when I get a car I won't be completely screwed when I lock myself out. thanks man. I learned something thanks to you. keep it up.
  • I have a wafer lock on my medicine cabinet in the kitchen.I got the cut out emergency survival picks and none could pick it!I fashioned a pick from a carpenters tool and it manages to grab the back spring and it pulls the barrel out.If I can put a video on here I will show you. I have started making my own picks which are very rough for my first attempts but they work very well.I have opened a 5 pin padaock with one, and a small suitable padalock which was much harder to open!It had only one pin , a spool pin and this little lock gave me the most trouble! Lol

Didn't realize the pick top-leftmost ("wide or hollowed half diamond") is a wafer pick and I've had one this whole time! My boss is wanting me to get him into an old junker van here on the farm and I think I'll give it a try!

Well, I guess that "I" see it as a wafer pick as it was with the other car/wafer picks in the GOSO set, but really I guess it's just a "pick" and what you use it in is up to the picker. I have seen 'single peak' bogata picks with the same profile... Maybe that's what it is?
  • Hey Lock Noob is David from NZ. I love your channel and informative way that you take time to explain locksport is very appreciated. I have trouble getting lock pick sets in NZ because public bying of them is different due to restrictions even though for me is only for fun. If you have any small sets that you are finished with could you please send them to me? I will pay for p&p. At moment I am resorted to making my own out of window wipers and depth gauges ground down.

I pick auto locks with wedges, airbags and a series of rods. A cheap set I've put to good use. Slim Jim's dont last long but their cheap and I dont use them that often. I have a set of lock picks back home, I intend to learn picking wafer locks as soon as possible. I believe I'll need several new tools, but the knowledge is worth more. That's for vid.

Great video sir! Now I know what half of my kit is for lol. Liked and subscribed.

If you look at a wafer lock key it has teeth on both sides so I assume normal one sided rakes won't work? Looks like you need the double sided tensioner along with a double sided rake to open them. Or can they be opened with a one sided rake if you put 2x rakes in there at the same time?
  • @shrimpbit538
You have the same picks I have. Did they come in a leather case with 2 zippers right?
  • I was going to get that set but I decided that I wanted a different one
