Farming Corrupted Essences and Maximizing Your Essences Per Map!

Shoutout to Milldredd for bringing me this version of the essence farming strategy! It ended up being a lot of fun and something I can see myself doing in future leagues to hunt these very specific essences.

How to run this strategy:

1) Pick an extremely high density map
2) Roll your maps to have INCREASED NUMBER OF RARE MONSTERS
3) Ideally you do this in tier 6 maps higher is only for tier 17 maps and invitations

Milldredd variant of the atlas tree -poeplanner.com/a/PU8

Note: We do not take Crystal Resonance , this makes the map boss have essences yes and give you more but it makes it harder to specifically target the corrupted essences we are looking for. You can get lucky sure but it makes it more unlikely. Experiment and try!

  • @MrDeothor
while LF a guide for essences i lowkey hoped i'd find yours. Perfect timing :)
  • Thanks, agree with others. Love all your atlas strat vids, discovered so much this league 🔥
  • Clearly feels more more chill than run to boss, put it in culling range, logout, come back do the map and execute the boss :D
  • After running ~40 maps with this strat i switched to regular essense farm. Yes, you get only 7.5 essences per map vs ~24 in calcification, but it's much easier because no red beasts. So you really don't lose much because run your maps blazing fast. It's also much cheaper because you need ~40 alts to roll rare mobs (8c) and calcification scarab costs 12c, so you spend around 25c per map, while in regular setup you spend 5c per map. About atlas i picked follow nodes in order of importance: essence, all exarch (chaos, embers, invitations), all quantity and map effect, block all content (for extra essence 20% chance), chance to map become tier higher (for maps sustain and t17 maps) Run blue t16 with no danger mods, don't pick any mechanic which slow you down. pros * easy (blue t16), super fast (no red beasts), cheap, no need to roll maps a lot, extra profit from altars cons * less essenses per map

Note to Crystal Resonance APT node: I believe that if you take it you can't no more corrupt an essence with a remanant to a corrupted essence, because that's a conversion and you loose the ability to convert essences with Crystal Resonance APT node. I did run a few maps with this node and I know did not get any corrupted essence what so ever and I am pretty sure I did not get any coversion at all.

U should do a part 2 of it on trash roll t17, wich could be really easily to do with a good build and also way far more profitable, since the number of base packs on maps are higher it means more essences /map

heads up for anyone running this strat. I've been running this for a few weeks and when using scarab allflame, if any of the mobs from this allflame got imprisoned they would sometimes drop 0 essences. I'm pretty much corrupting every essence so maybe it's an interaction with the remnant but idk, just don't use to be safe.
  • @Milldredd
Oh boy, that first map, it makes me almost cry, so much bad luck :-)
  • @deathytv3119
Out of curiosity, if you took the node for the map boss to get all the essence modifiers and you ran the maven witness for t14 plus node that spawns 1-3 more map bosses. Do they all also get essences because it effected the map boss and they get the same modifers?
  • @HeavyClaw
Hey Travic I have been testing this one, /a/P8l Uses Alva and map invs, all my newbie friends who uses it tells me the same, alva big jackpot ever 2-3 temples
  • Beasts as of right now are pointless, and only increase time you spend to run the map. At the 11:45 you may see the beast with two screaming essences and bunch of even lower tiers, same at 12:08, and at 14:32 there is a beast that doesn't even care to be imprisoned by an essence at all. These are extra yellow beasts added by atlas tree, and at the moment they are broken - either not being imprisoned or rolling low essence tiers ignoring guaranteed shrieking (deafening with a scarab) rule. The setup otherwise is fine, I'd just skip beasts entirely (in fact I did).
  • @peanut9898
I actually run lookout, since the 2 rares in the boss area always get imprisoned.
  • 2:30 what Travic is saying about the graveyard decreasing essence prices is way less important than the effect of scarab changes. Now you can have 7+ essence mobs that all have deafening. Literally impossible last league. The number of essences generated per hour is way higher, so their individual value is lower.
  • @adamsb72
this guy is going to make me switch back form D4
  • @Wrongusername2
@Travic you're overestimating graveyard effect on essence prices(same actually applies to lifeforce) Low-mid tier essence-fracture crafts don't compete with graveyard much since you'd spend more in just additional craft corpses than whole craft. Common essences still in demand for finishing multifractured graveyard craftgs. Corrupted essences obviously in high demand for finishing high-end crafts/graveyard crafts. It's mostly just new scarabs allowing you to farm absolute shitton of essences(lifeforce) that's over 10x what was possible before, just think how many essences you used to be able to get per map vs fully juiced calcification setups. Which obviously just devalues it vs previous leagues.
