Neither of the two male jungle fowls was going to back down. A test for dominance or fight for a female?! Both birds eventually went their separate ways. By all appearance unhurt.
This is the National bird in Sri Lanka and the moment was captured in Yala National Park.

The Sri lankan junglefowl, also known as the Ceylon junglefowl. It's our national bird. I love them. Can see them near my 🏡.

I live with red junglefowl... my guess is that these two males are brothers reaching early adulthood and they are mostly playing with a bit of dominance in the mix.

Unfortunately, many Indian red jungle fowl, many of them, have become hybrids with domestic chickens!! But does this apply to Sri Lankan wild chicken?
