This is my first tribute to the great singer Loreena McKennitt. The song is CARRIGHFERGUS from her first album, Elemental released in 1985. I really hope that you are gonna like it. It's a very melancholic, Irish traditional song. Here are the lyrics:
I wish I was in Carrighfergus
Only for nights in Ballygrant
I would swim over the deepest ocean
Only for nights in Ballygrant.

But the sea is wide, and I can't swim over
Neither have I wings to fly
If I could find me a handsome boatman
To ferry me over to my love and die.

Now in Kilkenny, it is reported
They've marble stones there as black as ink
With gold and silver I would transport her
But I'll sing no more now, till I get a drink

I'm drunk today, but I'm seldom sober
A handsome rover from town to town
Ah, but I am sick now, my days are over
Come all you young lads and lay me down.

I wish I was in Carrighfergus
Only for nights in Ballygrant.

So, please rate it, leave a comment and be sure to visit Loreena's official channel.

I can't get enough of listening to this song. I let go of my love for adding meaning to my life and happiness to eternity. Without it, everything was meaningless, and this song I'm going for him😔

This version of Carrickfergus by Loreena McKennit, with vocals by Cedric Smith, is playing as the credits roll, at the end of the 1985 movie 'Bayo'. It's the perfect ending. As the sun sets off the Newfoundland coastline, Bayo watches his grandfather walk out into the cold, north Altantic waters. Bayo imagines the old man walking on the water as he's always talked about doing. Bayo closes his eyes, and freezes the memory of his grandfather turning and smiling back at him. If you haven't seen the movie, from Canada's National Film Board, it's worth the watch.
