I love it. You touch exactly those subjects which are a bit beyond normal operations but are actually quite interesting. Of course I'm also interested in a video about a full manual start :)

I want to thank you, especially for this video. Because I asked about this in one of your live streams. Thank you again for taking the time and effort to explain this subject. Like all your videos, it was very revealing and informative for me. Now everything is clear in my head about this function. I always wish you a blue sky.

Manual Starts, Here we go! Will be interesting to see how it compares to the standard 737 system :)
  • I watched live how an engine was washed by using the crank mode. It was a GE CF-6 of a MD-11F, which was on a testbed. The engine just came from a repair and overhaul shop and had to be tested. It was mandatory to wash the engine so that the test results were as accurate as possible. The engine had to be washed prior of the test program. The test included idle thrust and maximum takeoff thrust for 5 minutes. After the test the engine had to be balanced by mounting certain screws at the hub where the nose cone is. The imbalance was measured during the testing.

Great stuff. Would love a video explaining the weight vs the centre of gravity diagram that we find in the weight and balance page in the efb.
  • @richardwade6256
I would find it very helpful to see a video on cross-bleed engine start.

Once we have dry motored the engine of a 737 to cool the engine down because it was too hot to open the fan cowls. As you can imagine it is a huge cooling fan when it is not ignited.
  • Hello Emanuel, yes kindly make a manual engine start tutorial...thank you
