It is amazing to have lived through and witnessed the evolution of video/film technology - quad machines, type C machines, d1/d2 machines, Telecine machines, da Vinci hardware based color correctors - not to mention all the video effects and editing systems...CMX, ampex ado, quantel paintbox/Harry/Harriet, etc... I find it sad that most people on the planet have no idea of the intense amount of engineering that went into this stuff at every level from concept to production to maintenance. Now it’s mirror-less cameras and software on a PC rivaling even the best technology of those eras - just blown away by how far it has come.

The same John Lowry who founded Image Transform did digital film restoration starting in the late 90s, including work on the original Star Wars. Had to check when I recognized the name. Interesting video topic, as I've never heard mention of Image 655 before.

Frank Zappa and other also used a system like this I think (based on the French 819 line system?) but I cant find it now, would like learn more on it.
