  • Superb video on so many levels. Childhood trauma, generational trauma, our historical life in the womb -- all linked to our stress, and the way we cope today. Thank you for your grasp of body and mind.

I needed this right now. I have a relative who recently had a severe spinal cord injury. This has turned our lives upside down. The idea of framing reality is true to a point. Many of these practices are so useful for those of us attending to my relative and to my relative as well. But, y’know, I could never, ever say to my injured relative, writhing in level-10-plus neuropathic pain, “It’s not your neuropathic pain. It’s how you THINK about your neuropathic pain.”
  • Self care is crucial! Spouse, children and grandchildren cause stress. It is painful when they make poor life choices. I worry about them way to much. I need to Stop!!

Uncertainty tolerance is so important. I think of all of us who have inadequate health insurance so that any illness or accident can do our way of life in. I think, too, of the SCOTUS decision that has led to overturning Roe, and what this means for so many people. How to tolerate uncertainty in the midst of events that promote so much fear or anger?
  • Yes, Chronic stress can cause illnesses if it’s not managed. Learning to relax and using spirituality helps to keep the mind at peace. 👆

I always enjoy these podcast/videos, and also the comments. However there appears to be a lot of "scam" comments - mostly replies, which really takes away from everything. Wish these could be removed!
  • I called my breathing practices from a very young age micro meditation 10 breaths and various ways learned from various people(first with Andrew weil book breathing) I have a visual motoscope problem and have not been able to use my vision without extreme buildup of energy anxiety frustration and panic attacks from birth and by 10th grade was practically meditating through breathing techniques and now I'm 55 and probably one of the most common people anybody's ever met because I'm based in reality always stay in the solution and never take things too personal too...
  • I had an anxiety attack where my bp went up to 180/100 what causes the body to have such an extreme stress response? I had it 10 months ago and am still experiencing anxiety symptoms.

You are what you eat. Your diet impacts your health. Lower stress, reduce obesity and more exercise are key to a healthy life. Obesity in children and adults is rising across the world. Fast food and sugary drinks are contributing to the problem of poor health and obesity. Eat a healthy plant based diet and exercise regularly. Reduce or ELIMINATE cows milk, eggs, cheese and meat. Eat more salad greens, beans, fruit and vegetables. Eliminate fast food, snacks like cookies, cakes, chips, and sugary drinks and juices. Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly. Regular exercise will help you sleep better. Yoga is a great stress reducer. Obesity is all too common today. Get off the couch. Get off the phone, ipad or video game. A variety of stretching and other exercises help with increased mobility. Ride to work, ride to school, ride for fun. Every city should be a bicycle city. Speak up for bicycles in your community
  • Dear Trish Lane , I just read your comment about not being stressed about climate change. ☺️So glad if you can escape the effects of chronic stress : Honestly : very pleased for you.☺️ BUT , the only thing there is that apathy might then creep in, and that might tend to make you not care enough now , to help DO something about it...😢 I know someone who seems to have Chronic Apathy, including over many important matters... I don't think it works well, long term, because our subconscious is always " taking note " of what's going on...🤔. Sort of " listening at the keyhole "...! I guess the answer is, as these two "treasures" of doctors ( Hyman & Epil ) are explaining, we have to keep stress from completely overwhelming us : After all, we are no good for anything much, if we've collapsed with a breakdown...☺️. Dr.Hyman is now my favourite You Tube broadcaster .☺️. There are many others who also make perfect sense, but Dr. H. has personal experience of deep stress, and clearly has spent a long time researching the effects it can have on our health: (I suspected that, decades ago, actually....). I earnestly hope that he feels the highest life-satisfaction from knowing the help he is giving us is absolutely true, and the fact that we can listen and learn how to feel better : well , that is just about the best thing we can have from doctors. I am feeling very much encouraged by this invaluable experience and insight : I feel now as if I'm about to set the scene for my chronic stress to be better understood, and hopefully dealt with, controlled, and that is " half the battle " . Yes ? Sincere thanks : this is an exciting video , because it reflects perseverance and wisdom.🦉. ☺️🇬🇧💕🇺🇸🦉☺️🇬🇧💕🇺🇸
  • We can’t be compared to animals. Humans can control their minds and emotions but animals live strictly on impulses and instincts to survive.
