In this video, I'm talking about how colour is coming back into interior design in a big way! The fact that IKEA manufactures so many colourful products signals its desire to appeal to Gen Z and the younger market overall. Let me know your thoughts in the comments section! How do you feel about this much colour? Are there any standouts from the collections?

I actually covered this topic in the first issue of my newsletter, The Interior Scoop. If you want to check out the article, I've linked it here: bitly.ws/3hVsC 🍨

As an older millennial who has been sick of the gray everywhere for a very long time, I love seeing more color. Maybe not these exact colors, but it's still a nice change.

1:53 Swede here, can confirm we don't care about pronunciation ♥️
  • 4:08 “It’s as impractical as having a concrete clock in your living room that is perpetually at twelve:eighteen because you forget to change that battery.” Getting ahead of the trolls and making people (or, at least, me) laugh at the same time; you are an efficient man, and I love you for it.
  • My grandmother and great grandmother always reminded me that “just because it’s in style doesn’t mean that it looks good.”
  • You’re right about the shag rug. My hubby thought he lost his wedding band trail running, but a couple of years later we found it in the bedroom rug 😂

I am 37 year old I am happy to see more color everywhere. After years of beige, brown, white, grey and then beige and brown again I am happy that people are remembering that there are other colors out there. I have that avocado green watering can in my daughters room. It's cheery and I like it.
  • I nearly choked on my water when you mentioned the "big cement clock that is perpetually stuck on 12.18" and call me stupid if you want but I somehow always assumed that you had a very strict filming schedule. I don't even remember when it stopped working but this is the funniest jab at your own decor
  • I actually stopped shopping at IKEA years ago because there was zero color. I'm not into these colors necessarily, but i am happy to see color make a return! I'm a bold, arty, tropical, neon, kitsch kinda person so the last ten years of home design has been my own personal version of hell😅

“You put grandma in that chair, and she ain’t ever leaving your apartment.” LMAO 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
  • As someone who grew up in the 1970's, I am not ashamed to say that I am appalled by burnt orange (and avocado green).
  • As a younger millenial, I am SO HAPPY to finally see colourful stuff at Ikea, I hope they release more!

I have an avocado bathroom. Not intentionally. Bought my house 2 years ago and can't afford to remodel yet. Any young person visiting loves it !
  • the Tessamans collection is a collaboration with the Dutch-based design studio Raw Collor. Here in Europe, I can see a group of color lovers, that are definitively not Gen Z. But arty people inspired by the Bauhaus who love bold & bright colors. (mostly primary colors but pastels are a hit too!) Anyway, the collection sold out so quickly in Amsterdam that I haven't had time to have a look at it. Finally time for some colors, yeah!

This all takes me back to the United Colors of Benetton from the 80’s! 😊
  • @moffit1x2x1
the donut lamp looks like a werther's caramel candy
  • I was so tired of grey everywhere, I think all these colors are very refreshing. I don't like it as a total look, but a few pop of colors in a middle of older wooden pieces... Love it ! That's good news

As the retro trend advances through the decades I'm getting a little anxiety. I'm giving advance warning that, when Dusty Rose and Country Blue comes back, I'm going to find a cave to hide in.
  • @Robindigsit
If you dont like it...dont buy it. Decorate how you want to live. ANYTHING is an improvement over the gray era.

The 70’s is everywhere and it’s pulling me in. I got new glasses last year, new haircut two years ago, and new clothes yesterday… I swear I’m not trying but my husband keeps saying, “you’re in your 70’s era!!” IT’S NOT MY FAULT IT’S WHAT I’M BEING SERVED!
