Commissioned by Canada Steamship Lines in the fall of 2021, four artists that were located in a different parts of Canada, worked together to develop the four characters of The Runners based on their own styles and traditions. The mural was unveiled in March 2022 to help celebrate the 2022 Canada Games. The idea of the mural was conceived by the artists to represent the common values of diversity, collaboration and perseverance. Together, the four runners create a collective and harmonious work that reflects the broad mix of people, cultures, backgrounds and abilities in amateur sport today
