A Tight Fit for A Big Ship

CSL self-unloader ATLANITC HURON navigates through the tight fit of Lock 3 on the Welland Canal. Launched October 18, 1983 as the PRAIRIE HARVEST for CSL Group Inc. (Canada Steamship Lines, Inc.), Montreal, PQ, the vessel was built as a “Caribbean Class” lake bulk freighter by Collingwood Shipyards Ltd., Collingwood, Ontario. The vessel was renamed ATLANTIC HURON in 1989. The name signifies her dual ocean and Great Lakes service area.... “Atlantic” for the Atlantic Ocean and “Huron” for Lake Huron.
