getting good man xD , i just bought one similar to this online , its on the way and i hope ill be able to make a sound out of it .. used to play the alto sax .quit a long time ago

What kind of reed use that instrument? Is the same reed of a sax?

It is close to recorder fingering, but still not exactly, and also not like sax. I wish they had made it to completely match a recorder of Baroque fingering system. They also have 8 hole version with detachable mouthpiece, so, in theory, you could replace it with Yamaha 4C alto sax with matching alto sax reeds. Also, that should be easier to play because there are many complaints about Xaphoons for their deep and too large mouthpieces. But I think, plain chalumeau might be a better buy. For example, Cantabile X-20 - it has complete match to recorder fingering and has detachable mouthpiece. Or, if you are ready to spend more money on a funky looking but really good beginner's instrument, you can look at Yamaha Venova - they have designed it to be as beginner friendly as possible and it also sounds more like a sax. Although still far from a real sax. Anyway, these kinds of instruments should all be called "reed recorders", really, and have matching fingering. I've no idea why they are overcomplicating things.

Sounds like a sax. One question bro, can you play chromatically like sharps and flats? Or is it like a harmonica where you can only play one scale? I checked the website but it’s written in Chinese.
