He was very handsome and seemed very intelligent. Emotionally and mentally. God rest his soul. He also appeared to be sad as well.
  • I like the way Jean-Michel Basquiat had a comeback to that interviewer
  • "If I was white, they would have said artist in residence... instead of all that other stuff." FACTS💯🤩❤️
  • @peachezp1587
Absolutely! He was an artist in residence. One of Brooklyn’s finest ❤🙏🏽❤️
  • I just wanted to hug him. It just seemed to make him sad to have to correct that man that way. 💛

That wasn't a laugh, more of a speech impediment... that was a stutter, not a laugh. A genius ahead of his time. Why do ppl only appreciate others after they're gone.

The actor Jeffrey Wright that played Basquiat in the movie Basquiat nailed his mannerisms ! Makes me want to go back and watch it again !

When an intelligent being is confronted with the stupidity of the masses

He wasnt locked in a basement and ordered to paint. He put himself in that basement and dedicated himself to his craft. Tourtured artists are obsessed with their craft.
  • He was also a Graffiti artist, and was very controversial amongst the NY ART Community! Most artist at that time didnt want to acknowledge his work as "ART"
  • @serenity2989
He was frustrated with the rumors about him being locked away to paint. That’s why he said that if he was white they would’ve just said artist in residence.. Not that other stuff
  • @Umjustchicken
"Since his death at the age of 27 in 1988, Basquiat's work has steadily increased in value. In 2017, Untitled, a 1982 painting depicting a black skull with red and yellow rivulets, sold for a record-breaking $110.5 million, becoming one of the most expensive paintings ever purchased."
  • He caught him off guard..& he was literally lost for words!!! If “U bett Nt say Shytt” was a person
  • @MsBenitamarie
That’s what you call a beautiful soul. It’s plain to see.
