If you prefer a photo/written tutorial to a video tutorial, rye and rye light by tin can knits is great. They were my first socks.

Thanks for this video! I really want to knit socks, but feel intimidated. The resources at the end are so helpful.

I really enjoyed this video. The principals you give are great and some of them I wish I had learned years ago.

This was so helpful especially the links to the baby sock patterns. thank you!
  • I just want to say, I can just barely knit a couple of rows (currently sitting on my needles) and Im at super beginner stage. Im not sure Ill ever get beyond this stage because I have dyscalculia (“math dyslexia.) but I still watch your videos because I seriously find your voice so calming. You come across as so real and genuine, its just lovely to watch and listen, even if Im just hoping to hear the same things enough that it somehow sinks in, and I too will someday be able to make the beautiful tiny stitches knitting creates. Right I CAN do crochet though, and Im getting better all the time. :)

Gosh, I’m a fairly new knitter and the whole reason I’m learning after 54 year’s of crocheting, is to learn to knit socks. Thank you for the video it was very helpful. Subbed and loved💜
  • Kate Atherley’s book on socks is awesome. Last Christmas I made socks for 6 adults in my family...they were perfectly sized thanks to her book.

the statement "I have really been enjoying the project and I got to the point where I had to make some decisions so I've put that aside" is my yarn spirit animal.
  • such great information. I am working on a vanilla sock in DK right now- thanks for the tips!
  • I just subscribed.. I am a sock knitting fan! I like two at a time toe up. These are my favorite ones to me. I am not good , I am not fast, I am steady as she goes.
  • I loved your video! You gave me inspiration! Thank you!!❤️🙏

Ah yes! At last some sanity...an amazing young man is going to teach me how to knit socks. Feel blessed indeed. Thanks a million.
  • Great idea for a podcast Caleb. The Earthtones girl podcast for the no fear socks is the one I followed to start trying my first pair. Keep up the good work.
  • During COVID I decided to learn how to knit a sock...I am a crochet native. I found Earthtones Girl sock knitting class. Amazing! However, I have to confess it took me 3 socks before I got a decent pair that almost match!

I just knit a pair of magic loop worsted weight sock as a project break from my cable sweater. I knit in a sport weight for my first sock and OF COURSE made knee socks so it took me like 4 months but I wear those socks literally all the time so. worth it!
  • Thank you so much Caleb. This is fantastic information. I have been procrastinating for a long time but have a goal to cast on a pair of socks by the end of the month. Fingers crossed. 😊
