I Dyed Yarn... after knitting with it!

Published 2022-01-23
In this video, I take you along with me as I complete one of my dream knitting projects! I knit socks and then dip dyed them when they were finished. It was such a fun project and the socks ended up being beautiful!

While I am NO expert at dyeing yarn, I have some experience that enabled me to complete this project successfully.

It's now very common to see a man knitting where I live. So cool to see all these excitement and joy in your eyes! Thanks for sharing!

Welcome back, the socks turned out gorgeous. Your joy at the end result is apparent & infections.
  • Good to see you back! You have a convivial charm that is most welcome and you exude great enthusiasm for your work. Don't stop being you and please keep making these videos so we can see more of you and your work.

These look absolutely lovely. The colour scheme is superb. I very much like how the 'hidden' parts have little to no dye. It gives an added depth to the knit. You have inspired me to take the leap and knit sweaters. (I've had enough of flat knit projects, and hats). At the end of last year I have finished my first sweater (historical pattern), and now I've got the sweater bug. I'm actually finishing off the sleeves on a Tincan knits sweater for my husband (you've praised the pattern enough to make me want to give it a go), and I am absolutely in love with top-down sweater knitting, and plan another Tincan sweater for myself. Thank you!
  • Thanks Caleb, I really appreciate your videos, they are full of great information. Love your 🧦 fade.

Awesome! Those socks looks so unique. Thanks for sharing this exercise in dip dying … great work. ❤️😃
  • I've been a beginner knitter for years and started knitting because I wanted to knit sweaters. January 1, 2022 I finally cast on my first sweater. Thank you for inspiring me to be brave and have the confidence to do this!

Socks do look great. For me, the best part was the demystifying of the dyeing process. I've had a wonderful stash of acid dyes and equipment sitting in my cupboard for WAY too long. I've been intimidated by what I, too, saw as the need for precision measuring of the dyes. Somehow no matter how many times I read about the process, I didn't feel calmed down. This was perfect! This I CAN do!! Thank you. I get so much out of all of your videos (and I am a very experienced fiber artist. Spinning, Weaving, Knitting for years)! I always find something of interest. I hope you feel accomplished and proud. You've really created something wonderful here. Looking forward to whatever you have in store! All the best!

I’ve been knitting for 10 years and am only just finishing my first sweater. I’ve been so afraid I would give up on such a big project and wasn’t sure I wanted to invest in so much yarn. I’m so glad I did and already have plans for a new cardigan when I’m finished!

I watched Sunday but needed a few days to think about a dream project. I have two things I want to try, I want to write a pattern. I have had an idea, but I never full sat with it. I also want to knit an Estonian lace shawl. And thirdly I want learn how to spin and then knit a cowl with the yarn I spun.
  • Hey Caleb..love the socks..and I love dying yarn..love the color of these socks.
  • You inspired me a few months ago to start knitting sweaters. I am on my 3rd one and now I have a sweater addiction to go along with my sock problem. Truly want to thank you! :)
