Just want to take some time to say thank you to everyone who's watching this video. The feedback in the past day has been overwhelmingly positive. I genuinely worked really hard on this one and it's so heartwarming to see the amount of support I'm getting. Special thanks to r/cybersecurity & r/hacking. You guys are amazing. I was testing out to see if this kind of content would be interesting, and I think from the feedback, it's safe to say that it is. Do stay tuned for more.

As a computer science student, I tell you this is an incredible documentary. It reminded me why I love the infosec field.
  • @over9000andback
Love that you went into details and answered the "but why?"

great work. as someone who is studying cybersecurity this not only hits points I'm learning about but opening up other ideas. Not only does this kind of content motivating for me as someone who wants to work against this type of ransomware, It also is deeply concerning as to what may be lying around the corner for the next big attack.

The fact that you’re not even at 1.5k but have actual good content
  • This is by far the best Wannacry documentary I've seen. Informational and straight to the point without unnecessary creepy clips added in which break immersion. I'm surprised this is your first documentary-style video! It doesn't seem like it. And I like the educational aspect! I'm only in highschool but I'm aspiring to be involved in computer science so I know a fair amount about at least how it works, so it wasn't confusing for me and I actually doubt it would be confusing for most people. It's a nice mix of understandable enough that anyone can get it, and advanced enough that people with knowledge on the subject are learning something from it.

Cracking production quality, technical enough for most people without going too deep. I am keen to see what you come up with next. Two thumbs up mate. 👍👍
  • Excellently made documentary! Sadly it didn't surprise me that hospitals ended up being the most heavily damaged by Wannacry. I used to deliver and setup medical devices like ultrasounds, retinal scanners and such, and almost all of them were running bespoke software in kiosk mode on top of a Windows XP (and later Win7) build that had automatic updates disabled, since obviously having one of these machines decide to reboot itself in the middle of a procedure could be quite unfortunate. There's still a lot of these machines out there and I imagine they still haven't received any updates, since the software they run often depends on a specific build of Windows to work properly, so the threat of a second round is very much a real one.

This kind of content is exactly what I look for; concise and straight to the point, no gimmicks. Really good research you’ve done man, keep up the good work!

Just read this was your first doc & had to tell you I was shocked. You definitely have a talent for this! I thought it was a presentation from a large media company.

Stumbled across this video while watching other documentary style videos on this kind of stuff. I am a computer science student and have always enjoyed watching these types of videos to learn about and understand how these types of things happen and are shut down. I want to be one of the people who maybe helps either prevent these things entirely or helps to shut them down. Your video was awesome. Keep it up.
  • very well made and top notch editing. keep up the good work. You always have my support.....

I heard that some guy was making a book when he got the virus. He couldn’t pay in 7 days so he had to wait the 6 months. he actually got it back and finished the book 3 years later.
  • @dianampm99
Incredible doc! I could watch this twice, or even 2 hours of this type of content. You are doing amazing and you will for sure always gain more and more views and subs, even if it's not super quick. I'm also a cybersec student and this video has reminded me why i love this field in a time where I'm struggling about my academic path.
  • @johnb0070
Awesome video and well put together on the attack. Very good. Publish this in more forums. Looking forward to your next one.
  • @sirluke94
Great video dude (coming from someone in the cyber industry) well paced and great short explanations of key concepts. I’m subscribed and look forward too more docs that you post!
  • cool doc, I remember I worked at an airline company as security supervisor when this happened and we had 11 hours shift that night, it was awful, the snapshot were infected as well and when they restored previous version they would keep spreading the worm around the network
  • @chrominox
This is well done, mate. I like how it's structured and scripted. Looking forward to your next documentary.
