The fact that the turrets fire whole bullets is basically the reason why you don't immediatly die ^^
  • @Brandinisnores
"They fire the WHOLE bullet! Thats 65% more bullet per bullet!"

The turrets are effectively using metal nerf guns 😂
  • I like how the “Corner Cutting Machine” uses actual diamonds to cut the corners. No wonder you’re going bankrupt, Cave.
  • J.K. Simmons plus Valve's sense of humor equals comedy gold!!! 🤣
  • @mulletking
The turrets protecting babies is also (one of ) the reason why they know songs/lullabies.
  • @DivusMagus
"We fire the whole bullet." is a quote I have seen in multiple places around the internet funny since it was just from a teaser and not the actual game.

The mention of Cave's father being a simple Farmer dovetails nicely with J.K. Simmons being the spokesperson voice for Farmers' Insurance.

“Cave Johnson, we’re done here.” 😂
A live action movie or series within the portal universe would be awesome. Not even the main story, just stories of other test subjects trying to escape Aperture and even old footage of subjects over the decades.

I love the "Perpetual Testing Initiative" because the joke has been made so many times in so many forms. It's like the problem with the "Pan-Dimensional Gargle Blaster", a take off the fictitious Hitchhiker's Guide drink. In theory a drink which shunts all the hangover and negative stuff to an alternative-universe version of yourself is fine... until you realize that if you're the sort of person who would drink it then so would about every other version of yourself and probably at the same time as you do. Similarly, if Cave Johnson has no problem with making other Cave Johnsons pay to research and build products which don't even work properly in their home universes... it explains a lot about what we're seeing in this one.

Fun fact: You could actually buy blind box turret figures with all those different skins, plus some others added later.
  • @Alakaizer
If anyone is curious, Chell (the test subject we see in the boots ad), was modeled after the actress Alesia Glidewell.

Way too excited to watch your co-op shenanigans. If your partner hosts, and invites you to their game, then you will be the taller orange robot

Meg fangirling over everyone's favorite mute tomboy just made my year

I recommend playing/watching Aperture Desk Job. It was released recently alongside the Steam Deck and is a prequel to Portal but expands upon the story of Cave Johnson.

They probably have outsourced not only test chamber construction, but design too. We are their designers.

The Multiverse one is the lore of the community maps

In every map you play as an intern testing the tests made by the alternative universes, encountering different versions of Cave Johnson from different timelines
  • @glykaman1312
You should definitely play the cooperative mode. Trials, jokes and humiliation also remained in the coop.

People, the DIALOGUES of this game are a lesson to "modern games".
  • The first video, "Perpetual Testing Initiative" was added into the game after release, when Valve created the level editor and added the Community Test Chambers into the game.  Before that, it was technically possible to create your own maps with the official Source Engine map editor, share them via online modding websites, download other people's maps and manually install them into the game folder — but it required a lot of technical knowledge and skill on your part.  Now it was conveniently part of the game in a streamlined form, and they made that video as an in-universe explanation for the existence of community-created test chambers.

I believe this is where the Steam Workshop originally came from, which gives game developers a convenient infrastructure for supporting mods and other user-generated content.

I wonder if Meg knows how Wheatley also played the alien inside the copy machine in Men in Black 2
