In badminton doubles, the serve is the most important part of the rally. Specifically you should be using a backhand low serve to fight for the first chance to attack. A bad serve will always be punished, and you can easily lose the point off it.

  • I literally just played a game of badminton this week after not having played for over 5 years and I swear your videos are more helpful to me than any coaching I received in high school.
  • Kept doing this today. Suck at doubles, but kill it in singles. The badminton gods knew i needed this video.

i am expanding my arsenal to destroy all oponents in my school's badminton unit.
  • Great help for amateurs like me. I play badminton at the local badminton club and more often than not my opponents returned my serve with a nasty smash or I ended up landing inches short. Obviously, I was doing it all wrong. But not anymore. Just took me two days to practice it and now I am good. Thanks for this tutorial!
  • Great tips, Jonathan! Thanks a lot. I've played for 18 years, and one of the more, ahem, consistent problems I've had is with my short serve.
  • This really helped thank u so much serve was the weakest part of my game!!

Great tips, I’ve been serving reasonably good backhands for years but these tips have improved my consistency and accuracy. One curious point though, all the serves you demonstrated would be classed as ‘ illegal ‘ due to the height of contact ( too high ) 🤷🏼‍♂️
  • Some commentators have mentioned this serve is a bit borderline in terms of height, and looking back I agree. I was focused on demonstrating the perfect shuttle path on camera, I ended up serving a bit higher than normal. I don't think you'd get called on a service fault in general play, but of course adjust as necessary!
  • I’m in a P.E. Tournament right now and I’m back by 5 points while my opponent needs one more so i gotta hope this works. Wish me luck solider’s.

I saw your video and went to the badminton club right away, HUGE DIFFERENCE! My services became a nightmare for other players. I even made like 10 successive points just from my services. Please note that before this video, my services were not worth 2 cents (lot of failure), i had no confidence. I even won in a double Vs the trainer. More over once you get this point you will get a lot of confidence and you will be able to focus on the other aspects of the game to improve yourself. Thank you so much, the video is well done. Big thumb up.

That realization when you play too much badminton and you notice that your other arm is much more muscular than the other Edit: I am a girl not a boy😳
  • most helpful video for an intermediate-to-advanced level players. serves make up significant part of the game and it has to be consistent, accurate and controlled. practicing alone is one thing but repeating it under pressure is a different thing - it requires the mental strength.

Oh my god!! This works!! Remember to breathe and stay calm, hold the handle on the top and hit the birdie above the sweet spot using wrist power. Simple!!! Thanks buddy!!
  • Love your channel! I’m an intermediate player and these little tips in your videos help out heaps
  • Great video! My game has immediately improved from catastrophic to awful. Thanks! 😁👍
