Okay, one word, Scrumdeliumptious! That's the best word I can find to describe this dish. Even if brussel sprouts aren't really your "thing", they may very well become your thing once you've tried these and they are crazy easy to make. Prepare to amaze at your holiday dinner party with these.

about 1 lb of fresh medium sized brussel sprouts (washed and trimmed)
3-4 slices of thick cut bacon (cut into short strips)
coarse sea salt (a pinch will do)
2 tbsp of balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp of cold butter

My only complaint is this: NEVER discard the leftover bacon grease. Put it into a covered ceramic container and stick it in the fridge. It will firm up and can be used like cold butter. Spread some of it on a bagel before you put it in a toaster oven to crisp it up. I also save all of my salt pork grease when I cook that up. Pure goodness!

  • I love brussel sprouts roasted iadd raises, dried cranberries and roasted walnuts at the end. I'm going to try the balsamic and butter next time. Thanks
