Mojang could've just added an option in the Sounds Menu to Reduce Redstone Block Sounds but instead they gave a Solid machine the sound of horses walking over molten sugar lmfao

In the most recent snapshot, they just made pistons quieter and reverted it back to the old sound. People have to remember that these are snapshots and not full releases, anything could be subject to change.

I think the myth is true, Mojang only listens when something is disliked like the new piston sound, so that in the recent snapshot, they reverted the old one back

the old piston sounded like a cubic meter of mechanical parts all working to push something. the new one sounds like they put WAY too much lubricant in it and now the gears arent catching.

Me and my son used the pistons old sound to replicate an engine sound for our “generator” room. Its now ruined.

They could do both and just make a recipe for beeswax that makes machine oil so if you want the piston quieter you have the option as an in-game recipe
